HE chapters composing the following Volume, now translated from the French, were delivered as lectures to young people by the learned, pious, and eloquent Professor GAUSSEN, of Geneva. They attracted great attention and excited much interest amongst the young; whilst the valuable information they imparted made them highly popular amongst persons more advanced in life. At the request of many who heard them the lectures were published as originally spoken, and have been made extensively useful in their native tongue. Their translation and publication by the Religious Tract Society has been again and again pressed upon the Committee; the Record newspaper, in a review of the French edition, especially urging that an English version would be rightly placed on the Society's catalogue.
