But the pains which He endured

Alleluia !

Our salvation have procured :

Alleluia !

Now above the sky He's King,
Where the angels ever sing.

Alleluia !

Alleluia !

108

JESUS lives! thy terrors now

Can no longer, death, appal us;

Jesus lives by this we know

Thou, O grave, canst not enthral us.

Jesus lives! henceforth is death

But the gate of life immortal:

Alleluia !

This shall calm our trembling breath
When we pass its gloomy portal.

Alleluia !

Jesus lives! for us He died;

Then, alone to Jesus living,

Pure in heart may we abide,
Glory to our Saviour giving.

Alleluia !

Jesus lives! our hearts know well
Nought from us His love shall sever;
Life, nor death, nor powers of hell
Tear us from His keeping ever.

Jesus lives! to Him the throne
Over all the world is given :

May we go where He is gone,

Alleluia !

Rest and reign with Him in heaven!

Alleluia !

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!

THE

ALLELUIA!

HE strife is o'er, the battle done, The triumph of the Lord is won ; Oh! let the song of praise be sung.

Alleluia !

The powers of death have done their worst, And Jesus hath His foes dispersed ;

Let shouts of praise and joy outburst.

On that third morn He rose again

Alleluia !

In glorious majesty to reign;

O let us swell the joyful strain.

Alleluia !

He closed the yawning gates of hell;
The bars from heaven's high portals fell;
Let songs of joy His triumphs tell.

Alleluia!

Lord, by the stripes which wounded Thee, From death's dread sting Thy servants free, That we may live, and sing to Thee !

Alleluia !

LLELUIA! Alleluia !

ALLELU

Hearts to heaven and voices raise;
Sing to God a hymn of gladness,

Sing to God a hymn of praise;
He, Who on the Cross a Victim,
For the world's salvation bled,
Jesus Christ, the King of glory,
Now is risen from the dead.
Christ is risen, Christ the first-fruits
Of the holy harvest field,
Which will all its full abundance
At His second coming yield;
Then the golden ears of harvest

Will their heads before Him wave,
Ripened by His glorious sunshine,
From the furrows of the grave.

Christ is risen, we are risen ;
Shed upon us heavenly grace,
Rain, and dew, and gleams of glory
From the brightness of Thy face;
That we, with our hearts in heaven,
Here on earth may fruitful be,
And by angel-hands be gathered,
And be ever, Lord, with Thee.
Alleluia! Alleluia !

Glory be to God on high;
Alleluia to the Saviour,

Who has gained the victory;
Alleluia to the Spirit,

Fount of love and sanctity;
Alleluia! Alleluia !

To the Triune Majesty.

THE

HE Head that once was crowned with thorns
Is crowned with glory now;

A royal diadem adorns

The mighty Victor's brow.

The highest place that heaven affords
Is His, is His by right,

The King of kings, and Lord of lords,
And heaven's Eternal Light;

The Joy of all who dwell above,
The Joy of all below,

To whom He manifests His love,
And grants His Name to know.

To them the Cross, with all its shame,
With all its grace, is given :
Their name an everlasting name,
Their joy the joy of heaven.

They suffer with their Lord below,
They reign with Him above;
Their profit and their joy to know
The mystery of His love.
