BIRTHS.

At the government-house, in the island of Madeira, the lady of Majorgeneral the Honourable Robert Meade, on the 27th of January, of a daughter.

At Kensington, on the 10th instant, the lady of Major Broad, 47th rẻgiment, of a daughter.

At Potter-hill near Perth, the lady of Edward Collins, esq. late captain in the 21st light dragoons, of a son.

At Edinburgh, the 20th ult. the lady of Lieutenant-colonel Gerard of Rochsoles, of a son.

MARRIAGES.

At Clympton Park, Oxfordshire, Thomas Perret, esq. lieutenant-colonel of the Oxfordshire militia, to Miss Davies, only daughter of the late R. Davies, esq. of Kythelyd, in the county of Glamorgan.

Lieutenant-colonel Blommart, of the 22d regiment, to Miss Elizabeth Escott, of Harrow-lane, Somersetshire.

At Columbo, the Honourable Patrick Stuart, lieutenant-colonel of the 19th-foot, to Catherine Henrietta, daughter of the Honourable John Rodney, chief secretary to the government at Ceylon.

On the 15th instant, Lieutenant P. T. Barrallier, of the 33d regiment of foot, to Ellen Margaret Crouchley, daughter of the late Joseph Crouchley, esq. of Leigh, Lancashire.

At Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Captain Cookson, of the soth regiment, to Miss Mary Anne, second daughter of David Stevenson, esq. of that town.

OBITUARY.

At his residence, Broomwell-house, near Bristol, in his 88th year, which he had entered in the full possession of his vigorous faculties, the Right Honourable John the 8th Lord Colville, of Culross in Scotland. His lordship's early life was passed in active military duty; he was of the expedition against Carthagena în 1740, when his father, the 6th Lord Colville, commanded a regiment, and where he lost his life. He was at the battle of Fontenoy in 1745; of Culloden in 1746; and of Lafeldt in 1747; and in 1761, he accompanied his regiment (the Scotch fusileers) to the siege of Bellisle. On the peace of 1763, he quitted the army, after 24 years' service, and retired to the privacy of domestic life; where, in the exercise of all the social virtues, he attached to him the affections of his family, and have endeared his memory to his surviving friends. On the death of his brother, Alexander, vice-admiral of the white, the 7th Lord Colville of Culross, he succeeded to the honours of his house. The title now devolves upon his eldest son John, a captain in the royal navy, now Lord Colville, of Culross.

of her age, Mrs. Phila Delancey, widow of the late Brigadier-general Oliver Delancey, of the province of New York, North America.

At Wimpole-street, in the 44th year of her age, Lady Elizabeth, wife of Lieutentant-general Loftus, daughter of the late Marquis Townsend and Charlotte Compton, Baroness Ferras, of Chartley.

At Chichester, after a lingering illness, Major Busby, of the Susse militia.

At Bletchington barracks, near Seaford, Sussex, the Honourable Stanhope Dormer, younger son of the late Right Honourable Lord Dormer, of Grove Park, near Warwick, and major of the Warwickshire militia.

At Exmouth, after a long illness, Robert Shawe, esq. late of the 74th foot, and a brigadier-general in the western district.

Charles Forbes, son of Lieutenant-colonel Thomas Forbes, of his Ma jesty's 45th regiment, in the 5th year of his age.

At Hampton Court Palace, Louisa Mary, youngest daughter of Lieu tenant-colonel Braddyll, of the Coldstream guards.

At Colemore, in Hants, in the 75th year of his age, Anthony Chase, one of the few remaining veterans who fought under the immortal Wolfe, and was within a few paces of that gallant hero, before Quebec, when he received his death-wound.

At Horsham, on the 15th instant, in his 5th year, Francis, son of Joha Mell, esq. paymaster of the 103d regiment. Having at that tender age braved the dangers attending the circumnavigation of the globe, in which voyage he accompanied his disconsolate parent, that interesting child was carried off in his native country after a short illness of six days.

Ia Portugal, on the 19th of January, Mr. Braddock, commissary and paymaster of the royal artillery. He had been 17 years in the department At Edinburgh, Mrs. Aymsworth, daughter of Lieutenant-colonel Les tham.
