HYMN CCCXXIV. Sabbath School Union. 1 ON earth we meet again below; 2 Some meet who never met before; The children's Whitsuntide array. 3 While the whole world before us lies, May each, whate'er our pilgrim-path, Be truly taught, and timely wise To follow peace, and flee from wrath: 4 That wrath, which disobedience brought On Adam's sin-born progeny; That peace, which our Redeemer bought, 5 So be this temple to the LORD, This Sabbath Union, which we build 6 Death-partings, then, from earth shall be Life-meetings in that world above, Where life is immortality, An immortality of love. HYMN CCCXXV. Children singing Hosanna to Christ. 1 HOSANNA be the children's song, 2 From little ones to JESUS brought, Let infants at the breast be taught 3 Hosanna here, in joyful bands, And hail with voices, hearts, and hands, 4 Hosanna, sound from hill to hill, 5 Hosanna, on the wings of light, 6 The city to the country call; Let realm with realm accord; And this their watchword one and all; 7 Hosanna, then our song shall be ; HYMN CCCXXVI. Children recalling Christ's Example and His Love. 1 WHEN JESUS left His Father's throne, 2 Like Him, may we be found below, 3 JESUS pass'd by the rich and great, He sanctified our parents' state, For poor, like them, was He. 4 Sweet were His words, and kind His look, When mothers round Him press'd; Their infants in His arms He took, And on His bosom bless'd. 5 Safe from the world's alluring harms, Thus in the circle of His arms, 6 When JESUS into Salem rode, The children sang around; For joy they pluck'd the palms, and strow'd 7 Hosanna, our glad voices raise, Should we forget our Saviour's praise, 8 For we have learn'd to love His Name; HYMN CCCXXVII. Children acknowledging the Providence and Goodness of God. 1 THE children's angels always view 3 But not to angels' care alone To GOD Himself our wants are known, 4 Yes; every comfort here below, And every hope above; All that we have and are, we owe 5 Then let us act as in His sight, 6 Young though we be and in the prime Of life's unfolding powers, Of all the moments of our time, 7 We seize it, LORD, before 'tis past; HYMN CCCXXVIII. Children numbering their Days. 1 THE pure and peaceful mind, 2 Young though in years we be, In health and spirits strong; What is the life of man to Thee? The longest is not long. |
