13. Thou who wert mov'd with Mary's grief, And by absolving of the thief, Hast given me hope, now give relief. 14. Reject not my unworthy prayer, Preserve me from that dang'rous snare, Which death and gaping Hell prepare. 15. Give my exalted soul a place Among thy chosen right hand race, The Sons of God, and heirs of grace. 16 From that insatiable abyss, 17. Prostrate my contrite heart I rend, My God, my Father, and my Friend, Do not forsake me in the end. 18. Well may they curse their second breath! CXXVIII. 1. Great GOD what do I see and hear? The trumpet sounds, the graves restore 2. Enshrin'd he sits in lightning's blaze;— Loud rolls the pealing thunder. My senses fail me !—while 1 gaze 3. Around the throne, the righteous bow, Among the blest may we appear, P. CXXIX. 1. Thou Judge of quick and dead, We all shall soon appear: And fill us now with watchful care, 2. To pray and wait the hour, That awful hour unknown; When rob'd in majesty and power, Thou shalt from heav'n come down. Th' immortal Son of Man, To judge the human race, With all thy Father's dazzling train, 3. To calm our earthly joys, The solemn midnight cry, "Ye dead; the Judge is come : "Arise, and meet him in the sky, And meet your instant doom!" 4. O may we thus be found, O may we all insure A lot among the blest! And, watch a moment, to secure An everlasting rest. CXXX. 1. When rising from the bed of Death O'erwhelm'd with guilt, and fear, I see my Maker face to face, Oh! how shall I appear. 2. If yet while pardon may be found, And mercy may be sought; My heart with inward horror shrinks! And trembles at the thought. 3.
