To these a few pieces of Poetry are added, which shew the cheerful piety and amiable benevolence of the author.

YOU have now in your hands some Letters, which a pious and affectionate minister wrote to a dearly beloved child at school. They are printed for your instruction, and if you carefully read, and constantly attend to them, you will be happy and honourable whilst you live, and when you die; for “godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to
