1 I'M on my way to Zion,

And bid the world farewell; Come on, my fellow travellers, In spite of earth or hell; Though Satan's army rages, And all his host combine, The Scripture doth engage us The strength of grace divine. 2 I'll blow the gospel trumpet, And on the nations call; For Christ has me commission'd To say he died for all.

;

Come, try his grace and prove him,
You shall the gift obtain:
He will not send you empty,
Nor let you come in vain.
3 But if you want a witness,

You have one just at hand,
Who lately has experienc'd
The glories of that land.
O come unto my Saviour,

And you shall taste his love; 'Tis sweeter than all earthly joys, Just coming from above.

4 My soul, look up and see him smile,
He now the blessing sends:
And I am thinking, all the while,
When will my journey end?
I fondly hope 'twill not be long
Till he shall come again;
Then we will join the holy throng,
And in his kingdom reign.

5 The glories of that heavenly place
My tongue cannot describe,
I feel it is within me,
The blood by faith applied.

and woe;

He rose to declare our justified state; Come seek this salvation before it's too late.

3 Salvation to Jesus, he's now gone above,

Where he will prepare for us mansions of love:

He has sent down the Comforter into the world,

And causes salvation from Zion to roll.

4 Salvation to Jesus, his mercy abounds,

And sinners take shelter in his precious wounds;

They are crying-and turning, and coming to God,

And finding redemption in Jesus's blood.

And oh, how ofttimes danger

Attends the path whereon I go. But Jesus Christ is with me,

And gently takes me by the hand; He says, 'I'll never leave thee, But bring thee to the promis'd land.'

And on his word and power

With steadfast faith I can rely, That in my latest hour

He will not leave me when I die. When the pains of death are rending This tabernacle made of clay, His angels are attending

To waft my soul to endless day.

So now I'll bid you all adieu!

My weeping relatives and friends, But soon I hope to meet with you In glorious bliss that never ends. And when in heaven appearing,

With rapture we'll each other greet,

And palms of victory bearing, We'll cast our crowns at Jesus' feet!

I'll meet all my brethren amid the bright throng;

With loud hallelujahs all heaven shall ring,

Salvation, salvation! to Jesus my

King.

THERE

is a land of pleasure,

[blocks in formation]

Where streams of joy for ever 3 Comfort the mourner, comfort the

roll;

'Tis there I have my treasure,
And there I hope to rest my soul.
Long darkness dwelt around me,
With scarce one single cheering

mourner,

Who trembles and cries unto thee;

Thy saving health display,
Take all his sins away,

And the glory we'll render to thee.

4 Save the backslider, save the back-
slider,

Destroy unbelief in his soul;
May he on thee believe,

And the witness now receive,
That his spirit again is made whole.

5 Bless the believer, bless the believer, 42.
Save him from indwelling sin;
Thy perfect love impart
To every waiting heart,
And stamp thine own image within.

6 Thine is the glory, thine is the glory,
We'll praise thee again and again;
'Tis meet and right to sing
To Immanuel our king,
Hallelujah! Amen and amen.

Can I say at last farewell?

Can I leave you

Far in heathen lands to dwell?

4 Yes! I hasten from you gladly, From the scenes I loved so well; Far away ye billows bear me, Lovely native land, farewell! Pleased I leave thee, Far in heathen lands to dwell!

5 In the deserts let me labour,

On the mountains let me tell How he died, the blessed Saviour, To redeem a world from hell. Let me hasten,

Far in heathen lands to dwell!

6 Bear me on, thou restless ocean! Let the winds my canvas swell; Heaves with my heart emotion,

warm

While I go far hence to dwell. Glad I leave thee, Native land, farewell! farewell!

Sweet Home. P. M.

SWEET home! happy rest of the heart I now sing,

How charming the solace this blessing doth bring;

Kind father and mother forbid me to roam,

Invite to their bosoms and welcome me home.

Home, home, sweet, sweet home, Kind heaven protect me, and fit me for home.

2 But a dwelling divine there is found here below,

The purest, most happy, that mortals can know;

The church with affection invites me to come,

Communion with saints is a banquet at home,

Home, home, sweet, sweet home, Receive me, dear Saviour, in glory, at home.

UR Jesus is the Son of God;

OUR I believe, I believe!

For all the world he shed his blood,
I believe, I believe !

The Lamb of God for us was slain;
He died for me and rose again,
Then went above all height to reign,
I believe, I believe!

2 Jesus Christ can all things can do, I believe, I believe!

He now can form the heart anew, I believe, I believe!

Our doubts and fears he can dispel, Can chase the mighty host of hell, And bring us all with him to dwell, I believe, I believe!

3 He can our backslidings heal, I believe, I believe!

Can make the hardest hearts to feel,
I believe, I believe!

O sinners, on the Saviour call,
No matter whether great or small,
He now can save you one and all;
I believe, I believe !

4 Jesus can make the wounded whole, I believe, I believe!

He too can sanctify the soul,
I believe, I believe!

He told us when, and told us how,
Then at his footstool let us bow,
And he can sanctify us now:
I believe, I believe!

THUS

A worthless worm is brought,
With wonder still increasing,
To see what God hath wrought.
1've slighted offered mercy,
And sinned against my God;
But Jesus Christ has washed me
In his atoning blood.

Our ministers came preaching God's ever blessed word, And by their powerful teaching, It was, I found the Lord. 4 In earnest they were praying, That I might grace receive, And all the time kept saying, 'Believe in Christ, believe.' 5 All hell seemed loosed upon me, I cried, What must I do? They said, Keep trusting in him, And he will bring you through. 6 My faith at this kept rising, I cried, I do believe;

7

And oh, what light and comfort
Just then did I receive.
Then up I got, and shouted,
All glory to the Lamb,
My foes for me are routed,
Hosanna to his name.

8 My sins are all forgiven,

I've felt his blood applied;
And I shall get to heaven,
If I in him abide.

Soldier's Hymn.

D. C. M.

COME on, ye valiant soldiers,

The promised land 's in view, And Christ your conquering captain Shall safely bring you through. The conflict 's almost over,

The battle 's nearly won;
You'll soon behold your Saviour,
Around his dazzling throne.

2 Though here we are but strangers,
And wanderers to and fro,
Exposed to numerous dangers,
And conflicts not a few;
The Master soon will call us,

And take his exiles home,
At his right hand he 'll seat us,
For still he says there's room.
