Carroll, Governor of Iowa: SIR: In compliance with the statute, I have the honor to transmit herewith the forty-third annual report of the State Horticultural Society, showing the receipts and disbursements for the year 1908, with supplementary papers and discussions on horticulture, including those of the auxiliary societies, all of which show the condition of the fruit industry in the state for the past year. Forestry is receiving more attention than formerly. I hope the society will continue to receive the kindly encouragement and support of the Executive and of the Legislature in its efforts to conserve and develop the natural resources of the state.
