UNIFORM WITH THIS WORK,

Price 2s. cloth limp,

THE ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH:

Its History and Progress.

BY EDWARD HIGHTON, C.E.

WITH NUMEROUS ILLUSTRATIONS ON WOOD.

The object of this work is to give, in as concise a manner as possible, a description of the Electric Telegraph as a whole; and also to point out the peculiar features in several kinds of Telegraphs which are now in use. In describing the various Telegraphs, every endeavour has been used to give a statement of the distinctive character of the inventions, without venturing an opinion on the comparative merits of the plans, unless there was any peculiarity in the case, which seemed to call for the expression of such an opinion.
