4 See how he loved, who never shrank
From toil or danger, pain or death!
Who all the cup of sorrow drank,

And meekly yielded up his breath!
5 See how he loved, who died for man,
Who labored thus, and thus endured,
To finish the all-gracious plan,

Which life and heaven to man insured!
6 Such love can we unmoved survey?
O, may our hearts with ardor glow,
To tread his steps, his laws obey,
And thus our warm affection show!

[blocks in formation]

1 ACCORDING to thy gracious word,
In meek humility,

This will I do, my dying Lord;
I will remember thee.

2 When to the cross I turn mine eyes,
And rest on Calvary,

O Lamb of God, my sacrifice!

I must remember thee;

3 Remember thee, and all thy pains,
And all thy love to me;

Yea, while a breath, a pulse remains,
Will I remember thee.

4 And when these failing lips grow dumb, And mind and memory flee,

When thou shalt in thy kingdom come,
Jesus, remember me.

CHRIST.

C. M.
Lord, remember me.

1 0 THOU from whom all goodness flows,
I lift my soul to thee;

In all my sorrows, conflicts, woes,
Good Lord, remember me.

2 When on my aching, burdened heart,
My sins lie heavily,

Thy pardon grant, new peace impart :
Good Lord, remember me.

3 When trials sore obstruct my way,
And ills I cannot flee,

O, let my strength be as my day:
Good Lord, remember me.

4 When in the solemn hour of death
I wait thy just decree,

Be this the prayer of my last breath-
Good Lord, remember me.

5 And when before thy throne I stand,
And lift my soul to thee,

Then, with the saints at thy right hand,
Good Lord, remember me.

Example of Christ.

1 IN duties and in sufferings too,
My Lord I fain would trace;
As he hath done, so would I do,
Sustained by heavenly grace.

2 Inflamed with zeal, 'twas his delight
To do his Father's will;

May the same zeal my soul excite
His precepts to fulfil.

3 Meekness, humility, and love
Through all his conduct shine;
O, may my whole deportment prove
A copy, Lord, of thine.

1 JESUS CHRIST, our Lord and Savior,
Once became a child like me:
O that, in my whole behavior,
He my pattern still may be.
2 If my feelings are not holy,
Pride and passion dwell within;
But the Lord was meek and lowly,
And was never known to sin.
3 While I'm often vainly trying
Some new pleasure to possess,
He was always self-denying,
Patient in his worst distress.
4 Lord, assist a feeble creature,

Guide me by the word of truth;
Condescend to be my teacher

Through my childhood and my youth.

Our Guide.

1 BEHOLD where, in a mortal form,
Appears each grace divine!
The virtues, all in Jesus met,
With mildest radiance shine.

2 To spread the rays of heavenly light,
To give the mourner joy,

To preach glad tidings to the poor,
Was his divine employ.

3 'Midst keen reproach and cruel scorn,
Patient and meek he stood;

His foes, ungrateful, sought his life
He labored for their good.

4 In the last hour of deep distress,
Before his Father's throne,

With soul resigned, he bowed, and said,
"Thy will, not mine, be done!"

5 Be Christ our pattern and our guide!
His image may we bear!

O, may we tread his holy steps,
His joy and glory share!

1 AND is the gospel peace and love?
Such let our conversation be—
The serpent blended with the dove,
Wisdom and meek simplicity.

2 Whene'er the angry passions rise, And tempt our thoughts or tongues to

strife,

On Jesus let us fix our eyes,

Bright pattern of the Christian life!

3 O, how benevolent and kind!

How mild! how ready to forgive!

Be his the temper of our mind,
And his the rules by which we live.
4 To do his heavenly Father's will,
Was his employment and delight ;
Humility and holy zeal

Shone through his life divinely bright!

5 Dispensing good where'er he came,
The labors of his life were love:
If, then, we love the Savior's name,
Let his divine example move.

1 My dear Redeemer and my Lord,
I read my duty in thy word;
But in thy life the law appears,
Drawn out in living characters.

2 Such was thy truth, and such thy zeal,
Such deference to thy Father's will,
Such love, and meekness so divine,
I would transcribe and make them mine.

3 Cold mountains, and the midnight air,
Witnessed the fervor of thy prayer;
The desert thy temptations knew,
Thy conflict, and thy victory too.

4 Be thou my pattern; may I bear
More of thy gracious image here;
Then God, the Judge, shall own my name
Amongst the followers of the Lamb
