Terms of court in Madison, Pierce, and Antelope counties. AN ACT. Providing for the holding of courts in the counties of Madison Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska: SECTION 1. That so much of section forty-eight (48), of chapter fourteen (14) of the general statutes of NeGen, Stat., 260. braska, entitled "Courts," as relates to Madison county, be stricken out, and that in lieu thereof, the following be inserted. That the time of holding the regular terms of the district court in said Madison county, shall be as follows, that is to say: On the first Wednesday after the second (2) Monday in June, and on the second Monday in November of each and every year. Terms of court in Pierce county. Terms of court in Antelope county. SEC. 2. AN ACT To provide for a term of the district court in Wayne county, and an additional term in Dakota county, in the third judicial district of Nebraska. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska : Term of court in Wayne SECTION 1. That there shall be held a regular term of the district court in Wayne county, commencing on the county. first Thursday after the second Monday in June of each year. SEC. 2. To take effect. SECTION 1. Terms of district court in Merrick county. AN ACT. Providing for holding terms of the district courts in Merrick county. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska : SECTION 1. That two terms of the district shall [be held] in Merrick county, in each year, commencing on the third Monday of February, and the first Monday in September. SEC. 2. AN ACT To provide for an extra term of the district conrt in Thayer and Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska : SECTION 1. That an additional term of the district district court to court shall be held in the counties of Thayer and Jeffer be held in coun and Jefferson. Gen. Stat., 258, ties of Thayer son during the year 1875; such date to be signified by the judge of said court as he may deem proper, and notice given to the county commissioners of said Thayer and Jefferson counties, at least thirty days before the holding of said extra term. SEC. 2. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this acts repealed. act are hereby repealed. SEC. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after the first day of September, 1875. Approved, February 25, 1875. To take effect. To create and provide for a state board of immigration. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska: SECTION 1. That there is hereby established within board of immi and for the State of Nebraska, a state board of immigration. gration established. Members of SEC. 2. That said board shall consist of the governor, the same. secretary of state, auditor, treasurer, and attorney-general of the state, who shall meet at the capitol of the state on the second Tuesday of March, June, September, and December of each year. The governor of the state shall be president of said board. when elected. SEC. 3. There shall be elected biennially, by the Secretary, senate and house of representatives in joint session, one secretary of immigration, who shall hold his office for a term of two years, and until his successor is elected and qualified: Provided, hawever, That he may at any time be removed from office by a majority of said board for in Duties of secre. tary. Office, where kept. Salary of secretary. competency or malfeasance in office, and said board shall have power to fill said vacancy until the next meeting of the legislature. SEC. 4. The said secretary of immigration shall be ex-officio secretary of the board, but shall have no vote upon any question; he shall be the custodian of all books, documents, and records of the board of immigration, and under the direction of said board, shall publish circulars and other documents; he shall answer all letters in reference to the state and her resources, and shall do and perform such acts as may be required of him by said board of immigration. Before entering upon the duties of his office, he shall give bonds in the sum of five thousand dollars for the faithful performance of his duties, which bond shall be approved by the governor and placed on file in the office of the secretary of state. SEC. 5. The office of said secretary of immigration shall be at Omaha: Provided, Said city shall furnish for the use of said secretary a suitable office free of charge. In case said city neglect or refuse to provide said office as aforesaid, the secretary shall keep and maintain his office. in some city that will furnish said office as aforesaid, to be designated by the board, and the said office shall be the depository of the publications of the board and of such specimens of the agricultural products and manufactured articles of the several counties of the state, and such maps and views as shall illustrate the state; and said office shall be open during usual business hours of citizens and strangers. SEC. 6. The said secretary shall receive, in regular quarterly payments, a salary of fifteen hundred dollars per annum, and the sum of five hundred dollars per annum, in full, for all incidental expenses of his office, including fuel, stationery, lights, postage, and traveling expenses. |
