5 From Eaft to Weft, from Weft to East, his restless Course he goes: And, thro' his Progrefs, cheerful Light and vital Warmth bestows. PSALM XIX. P. 2. IGOD's perfect Law converts the Soul, reclaims from false Desires; With facred Wisdom his sure Word the Ignorant inspires. 2 The Statutes of the Lord are juft, and bring fincere Delight. His pure Commands in Search of Truth, affift the feeblet Sight. 3 His perfect Worship here is fix'd, on fure Foundations laid: His equal Laws are in the Scales of Truth and Juftice weigh'd. 4 Of more Efteem than golden Mines, or Gold refin'd with Skill; More sweet than Honey, or the Drops, that from the Comb distil. 5 My trufty Councellors they are, and friendly Warnings give; Divine Rewards attend on those, who by thy Precepts live. 1 THE Lord himself, the mighty Lord, The The Shepherd by whose conftant Care 2 In tender Grafs he makes me feed, 3 Then leads me to cool Shades, and where He does my wand'ring Soul reclaim, Inftruct with humble Zeal to walk 4 I pass the gloomy Vale of Death, For there his aiding Rod and Staff 5 In Prefence of my spiteful Foes He crowns my Cup with cheerful Wine, 6 Since God does thus his wond'rous Love I PSALM XXIII. MY Y Shepherd is the living Lord, In Paftures fair, near pleasant Streams, 2 He fhall convert and glad my Soul, and bring my Mind in frame; Το To walk in Paths of Righteousness, 3 Yea, tho' I walk in Vale of Death, Thy Rod and Staff do comfort me, 4 And in the Presence of my Foes my Table thou shalt spread: 5 Thro' all my Life thy Favour is PSALM XXIV. I THIS fpacious Earth is all the Lord's, the Lord's her Fulness is; The World and they that dwell therein, by fov'reign Right are his. 2 He fram'd and fix'd it on the Seas; and his almighty Hand, Upon inconftant Floods has made 3 But for himself this Lord of all deferv'd Admittance find? 4 The Man whose Hands and Heart are pure, whofe Thoughts from Pride are free; Who honeft Poverty prefers To gainful Perjury. 5 This, this is he, on whom the Lord shall show'r his Bleffings down; Whom God his Saviour fhall vouchfafe with Righteousness to crown. PSALM XXIV. P. 2. I ERECT your Heads, eternal Gates : unfold, to entertain The King of Glory: fee! he comes 2 Who is the King of Glory? who? 3 Erect your Heads, ye Gates, unfold, 4 in State to entertain The King of Glory: fee! he comes Who is the King of Glory? who? the Lord of Hofts renown'd: Of Glory he alone is King, who is with Glory crown'd. PSALM XXV. THY Mercies and thy Love, And graciously continue ftill, As thou wert ever, kind. 2 Let all my youthful Crimes be blo ted out by thee: And, for thy wond'rous Goodnefs fake, in Mercy think on me. 4 I 3 His Mercy and his Truth the righteous Lord difplays, In bringing wand'ring Sinners home, who his Direction feek; And in his facred Paths fhall lead the Humble and the Meek. 5 Thro' all the Ways of God both Truth and Mercy shine, To fuch as with religious Hearts, to his bleft Will incline. PSALM XXV. P. 2. Since Mercy is the Grace that most exalts thy Fame, Forgive my hainous Sin, O Lord, and fo advance thy Name. 2 Whoe'er with humble Fear, to God his Duty pays, Shall find the Lord a faithful Guide, in all his righteous Ways. 3 His quiet Soul with Peace fhall be for ever bleft, And by his num 'rous Race the Land fucceffively poffeft. For God to all his Saints his facred Will imparts, And does his gracious Cov'nant write in their obedient Hearts. PSALM |
