ONE STAR (*), following the title of a book, denotes that it belongs to the LIBRARY OF THE ACADEMY OF SCIENCE. Two STARS (**) that it is deposited in the Collection of that Academy, though not its property.

A Dagger (t), following the title of a book, denotes that it belongs to the LIBRARY OF THE ST. LOUIS LAW SCHOOL.

Words and Names in Antique Type, indicate the ALPHABETICAL PLACES of the books in their respective classes. In the Classitied Index, where no such indication is found, the place of the book must be sought for in the Alphabetical Catalogue.

The present Catalogue contains the titles of about 24,000 volumes, of which 20,300 volumes are in the PUBLIC SCHOOL LIBRARY; 850 volumes in the LAW SCHOOL LIBRARY, and 2,850 volumes in the ACADEMY OF SCIENCE LIBRARY. The books of the two last named Institutions are accessible as books of reference, to the members of the PUBLIC SCHOOL LIBRARY.
