Whofe fins, with forrow, are confefs'd,
And cover'd with a Saviour's blood.

2 Bleft is the man, to whom the Lord
Imputes not his iniquities;

He pleads no merit of reward,
And not on works, but grace, relics.
From guile, his heart and lips are free
His humble joy, his holy fear
With deep repentance well agree,
And join to prove his faith fincere.

4 How glorious is that righteousness
Which hides and cancels ail his fins!
While a bright evidence of grace,
Through his whole life appears and shines.

PSALM XXXII. Second part. Long metre,
A guilty con crence eafed by confeffion and pardon,
WHILE
HILE'I keep filence, and conceal

My heavy guilt within my heart.
What torments doth my confcience feel!
What agonies of inward smart.

I fpread my fins before the Lord,
And all my fecret faults confefs;
Thy gofpel fpeaks a pard'ning word,
Thy holy spirit feals the grace.

3 For this fhall ev'ry humble foul
Make fwift addreffes to thy feat;
When floods of huge temptations roll,
There fhall they find a bleft retreat.

4 How fafe beneath thy wings I lie,
When days grow dark, and ftorms appear!
And when I walk, thy watchful eye
Shall guide me fafe, from ev'ry fnare.
PSALM XXXIII. Firft part. Com. met.
Works of creation and Providence.

REJOICE, ye righteous, in the Lord,

This work belongs to you ;

Sing of his name, his ways, his word,
How holy, juft and true!

2 Hamercy and his righteousnefe.
Let heav'n and earth proclaim ;
His works of nature and of grace
Reveal his wond'rous name,
His wifdom and almighty word
The heav'nly arches spread;
And by the fpirit of the Lord
Their fhining bolts were inade.
He bade the liquid waters flow
To their appointed deep;
The flowing feas their limits know,
And their own ftation keep.

4

5 Ye tenants of the fpacious carth,
With fear before him ftand;
He fpake, and nature took its birth,
And refts on his command.

6 He fcorns the angry nations' rage,
And breaks their vain defigns;
His counfel ftands through ev'ry age,
And in fuil glory fhines.

PSALM XXXIII. Second part. Com. metra
Creatures vain, and God all-fufficiens.
OLEST is the nation where the Lord
Hath fix'd his glorious throne:

Where he reveals his heav'nly word,
And calls their tribes his own

His eye with infinite furvey,
Does the whole world behold:
He form'd us all, of equal clay,
And knows our feeble mould.

Kings are not refcu'd, by the force
Ofarmies, from the grave;.

For Speed nor courage of a horfe
Can the bold rider fave.

4. Vain is the ftrength of beafts or men,
To hope for fafety thence ;
But holy fouls from God obtain
A ftrong and fure defence.

5 God is their fear, and God their truft,
When plagues of famine fpread;
Mis watchful eye fecares the juft,
Among ten thoufand dead."

Lord, let our hearts in thee rejoice,
And bless us from thy throne;

For we have made thy word our choice,
And truft thy grace alone.

PSALM XXXIII. As the 11th Pfalm.

First part.

Works of creation and providence.

E holy fouls, in God rejoice,

your voise

Great is your theme, your fongs be new:
Sng of his name, his word, his ways,
His works of nature and of grace,

How wife and holy, juft and true!

2 Justice and truth he ever loves,
And the whole earth his goodness prøves;
His word the heav'nly arches fpread;
How wide they fhine from north to fouth
And by the spirit of his mouth

Were all the ftarry armies made.

3 He gathers the wide flowing feas,
Those wat❜ry treasures know their place
In the vaft ftore-houfe of the deep;
He spake, and gave all nature birta,
And fires, and feas, and heav'n and earth,
His everlafting orders keep.

4 Let morta's tremble and adore

A God of fuch refiftlets pow'r ;

Nor dare indulge their feeble rage;
Vain are your thoughts, and weak your hands,
But, his eternal counfel ftands,

And rules the world, from age to age.

PSALM XXXIII. Second part.
Creatures vain, and God all-fuficient.
HAPPY nation, where the Lord
Reveals the treasure of his word,
And builds his Church, his earthly
His eye the heathen world furveys,
He form'd their hearts, he knows their ways,
But God their maker is unknown.

throne!.

2 Let kings rely upon their hoft,
And of his ftrength the champion boat;
In vain they boast, in vain rely;

In vain we truft the brutal force,
Or speed, or courage of a horfe,
To guard his rider or to fly.

The eye of thy compaffion, Lord,
Doth more fecure defence afford,

When death or dangers thrcat'ning ftand:

Thy watchful eye preferves the juft,
Who make thy name their tear and truft,
When wars or famine wafte the land.

4 In fickness or the bloody field,
Thou our phyfician, thou our fhield,
Send us falvation for thy throne:
We wait to fee thy podnets fhine;
Let us rejoice in help divine,"

For all our hope is God alone.

PSALM XXXIV. Fift part. Long metre. God's care of the faints; or deliverance by prayer

LORD, i will bief's thee all my days,

Thy praise thall dwell upon my tongue &

My foul fhall glory in thy grace,
While faints rejoice to hear the fong.
2 Come, magnify the Lord with me,
Come, let us all exalt his name;
1 fought the Eternal God, and he
Has not expos'd my hope to fhame.
3 I told him all my fecret grief,
My fecret groanings reach his ears:
He gave my inward pains relief,
And calm'd the tumult of my fears.
4 To him the poor lift up their eyes
Their faces feel the heav'nly fhine:
A beam of mercy, from the fkies
Fills them with light and joy divine.

5 His holy angels pitch their tents
Around the men who ferve the Lord :
O fear and love him, all ye faints,
Tafte of his grace, and truft his word!

6 The wild young Lions, pinch'd with pain
And hunger, roar through all the wood:
But none fhall feek the Lord in vain,
Nor want fupplies of real good.

PSALM XXXIV. Second part. Long metre.
Religious education; or, inftructions of piety.
HILDREN in years and knowledge young,
Your parents' hope, your parents' joy.

Attend the counfels of my tongue,
Let pious thoughts your minds employ.
2 If you defire a length of days,
And peace to crown your mortal ftate
Reftrain your feet from impious ways;
Your lips from flander and deccit.

3 The eyes of God regard his faints,
His ears are open to their cries :
