When on thy awful name we call,
And at thy feet fubmiffive fall,
O! condefcend to hear.

2 Far may thy glorious reign extend,
May rebels to thy fceptre bend,
And yield to fov'reign love:
May we take pleasure to fulfil
The facred dictates of thy will,
As angels do above.

3 From thy kind hand each temp'ral good, Our raiment and our daily food,

In rich abundance come:

Lord, give us still a fresh supply,
If thou withhold thy hand, we die,
And fill the filent tomb.

4 Pardon our fins, O God! that rife,
And call for vengeance from the skies;
And while we are forgiv'n,

Grant that revenge may never reft,
Nor malice harbour in that breast,
Which feels the love of heav'n.

5 Protect us in the dangerous hour,
And from the wily Tempter's pow'r
O fet our fpirits free;
And if temptation fhould affail,
May mighty peace o'er all prevail,

And lead our hearts to thee.

6 Thine is the pow'r, to thee belongs The conftant tribute of our fongs, All glory to thy name :

Let ev'ry creature join our lays,
In one refounding act of praise
Thy wonders to proclaim.

HYMN CCX. L, M. [GIBBONS.]

The Springs of happiness arife;
That cheer this howling wafte below,
And bless the manfions of the skies.
2 We the productions of thy pow'r,
And penfioners upon thy love;
Look to thy throne with longing eyes,
And wait thy bleffings from above.
3 Protect the young from ev'ry fnare;
And let thy ftaff fuppart the old;
Relieve the poor; nor let the rich,
Have all their heritage in gold.
4 Let joyful fouls ftill tafte thy grace;
Give to the mourners heav'nly joy;
Suftain the strong; and quick revive
The with'ring plants from their decay.

And crown my journey's end.

To bless our 'rifing race;
Soon may their willing fpirits bend
To thy victorious grace.

2 O what a vast delight

Their happiness to fee;
Our warmeft wishes all unite,
To lead their fouls to thee.

3 Dear Lord thy fpirit pour, Upon our infant feed;

And bring the long'd for, happy hour,
That makes them thine indeed.

Shake off each flothful band,
The wonders of this day,
Our fabbath songs demand.
Aufpicious morn! thy blissful rays,
Bright feraphs hail in fongs of praife.

2 At his approaching dawn Reluctant death refign'd;

The glorious prince of life,
His dark domains confin'd:

Th' angelic host around him bends;
Amidft their fhouts, the God afcends.
3 All hail, triumphant Lord,
Heav'n with hofannas rings;
While earth in humle ftrains
Thy praife refponfive fings:
Worthy art thou who once was flain
Thro' endless years to live and reign.

DIS
ISMISS us with thy bleffing Lord,
Help us to feed upon thy word;
All that has been amifs forgive,
And let thy truth within us live.

HYMN CCXVI. C. M.

A Morning Hymn.
To thee, let my firit off'ring rife,
Whofe creates the day;
Swift as his glad'ning influence flies,
And spotlefs as his ray.

[RIPTON'S COLL.]

2 This day thy fav'ring hand be nigh,
So oft vouchfaf'd before ;
Still may it lead, protect, supply,
And I that hand adore.

3 If blifs thy Providence impart,
For which refign'd I pray?
Give me to feel the grateful heart,
And without guilt be gay.

4. Affliction, fhould thy love intend,
As vice or folly's cure;
Patient to gain that gracious end,.
May I the means endure.

5 Be this and ev'ry future day,
Still wifer than the past;
And when I all my life furvey,
May grace fuftain at last.
