The new Jerusalem comes down,

Adorn'd with shining grace.
s Attending angels thout for joy,

And the bright armies sing,
* Mortals, behold the sacred feat

Of your defcending King. +

The God of glory down to men
Removes his blest abode ;
Men, the dear objects of his grace,

And he, the loving God.
5 His own soft hand shall wipe the tears

From ev'ry weeping eye,
And pains, and groans, and griefs, and fears,

And death itself shall die."
6 How long, dear Saviour, O how long !

Shall this bright hour delay ? Fly swifter round ye wheels of time, And bring the welcome day. HYMN CXXXII. [MADAN'S COLL.]

Kingdom of Christ over all. REJOICE, the Lord is King,

Your God and King adore ; Mortals give thanks, and

fing, And triumph ever more ! Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,

Rejoice aloud, ye faints, rejoice. 2 Rejoice, the Saviour reigns,

The God of truth and love ;
When he had purg'd our stains,
He took his seat above :

Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,

Rejoice aloud, ye fainits, rejoice. 4. His kingdom cannot fail,

He rules o'er earth, and heav'n;
The keys of death and hell
Are to our Jesus giv'n :
Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,

Rejoice aloud, ye faints, rejoice, 4. He all his foes shall quell,

Shall all our fins destroy ;
And ev'ry bosom swell
With pure teraphic joy :
Lift up the heart, lift up the voice,

Rejoice aloud, ye faints, rejoice. 5 Rejoice in glorious hope,

Jesus the judge shall come,
And take his servants-up
To their eternal home :
We foon shall hear tl' archangel's voice,
The trump of God shall found, rejoice.

3 To fave a guilty world he dies ;

Sioners, behold the bleeding Lamb !
To him lift up your longing eyes,

And hope for mercy in his name.
4 Pardon and peace thro' him abound;

He can the richelt bleflings give;
Salvation in his name is found,

He bids the dying finner live.
5 Jesus, my Lord, I look to thee;

Where else can helpless finners go ?
Thy boundless love shall set me free

From all my wretchedaefs and woe. HYMN CXXXIV. L. M. [JAMES REĻLY.]

Light of the World.

, The glory of the Lord appears ; No more in darkness may we roam,

Expos'd to guilt and many fears.
? The day spring glorious from on high,

Beams forih in rightness all divine ;
Our nightly fears and troubles die,

Whilst we in perfect beauty shine.
3 The Godhead's glory rising bright

On us, in Christ the heav'nly man,
Declares us perfect in his fight,

Whilf we admire the gracious plan. 4 What e'er we loft, we here regain ;

The end of all our toil is come,
Nor fin, nor curfe, doth here remain,
We rest in God, our native home.

There in onr nature greatly bleft,
And purg'd from ev'ry ill, thro' blood,
Our conscience finds eternal rest,
And answers peacefully to God.

P. M. JAMES RELLr.] Maker of all Things anew. ! WHEN favour’d John bekeld

The visions of the Lord,
With admiration fill'd,
He heard the Father's word
Revealing, what his purpose was,

And what his love should bring to pass. 2 Thus fpake the fov'reign Lord,

Whilft on his throne he Tas
“ Hear ye my faithful word;
Behold I will create,
And make all things in love anew :

Write thou these words, for they are true.?. 3 When God had thus declar'd

The secret of his will,
The man who was preparid
His counsel to fulfil,
Emphatically spake to John,

And said, “Behold, the work is done : 4 For I the Alpha am,

And the Omega too ;
You in this sacred name,
The finish'd work may view :
I, the Beginning and the End
Of all the joys which you attend.",

Ofices of Christ. SAGES of ancient letter'd times !

In ev'ry age and diff'rent climes, For wisdom fam'd among mankind, Withdraw your thinly fcatter'd rays : Before the broad o'er pow'ring blaze,

Of the supreme eternal mind.
? Mercy's great year in heav'n inroll?d,

By feers fucceeding feers foretold,
Was now with folemn pomp unseald,
Light of the world, Meffiah cáme,
In his almighty Father's name,

And immortality reveal'd. 3

Filld with his Father's strength he taught ;
The dumb in rapture speak their thought,
The lame man bounding like the roe :
The blind looks up to heav'r ; lern death
Resigns his spoil; and from his breath

Fierce demons Ihrink to shades below. 4 O works of pow'r, O works of love,

Ethereal embassage to prove,
These ev'ry rising doubt control ;
Earnelt of love and pow'r more Arong,
Which to the son of God belong,
To heal the mis’ries of the soul.
