WHITEFIELD's Col.

SWEET before the profs I fpend!
Life, and health, and peace poffeffing
From the finner's dying Friend.
Let me fit for ever viewing

WEET the moments, rich in blessing,

Mercy's ftreams in ftreams of blood; Precious drops, my foul bedewing, Plead and prove my peace with God. Here it is I find my heav'n, While upon the Lamb I gaze;

Here I fee my fins forgiven;

Loft in wonder, love and praife.

May I ftill enjoy this feeling,
In all need to Jefus go,

Find his blood each day more healing,
And himself more deeply know,

ESUS invites his faints

To meet around his board;

Here pardon'd rebels fweetly hold
Communion with their Lord.

For food he gives his flesh,
And bids us drink his blood;
Amazing favor! matchlefs grace
Of our redeeming God!.

Our heav'nly Father calls
Chrift and his members one;
We the dear Children of his love,
And he the first-born Son.

Let all our pow'rs be join'd
His glorious name to raise !
Let peace and love fill ev'ry mind,
And ev'ry voice be praise.

this cup,

How fweet the ftreams of pleasure flow,
From this repaft of love!
And if fo fweet the ftreams below,
How fweet the spring above!

There faints fhall fee the lovely face
Of their forgiving God,

And ftand compleat in righteousness,
Wath'd in the Savior's blood.

There fhall they all forget to fin,
No more remember death,
But drink eternal pleasures in,
And draw immortal breath.

HERE, Lord, may we admire

The riches of thy grace!

'Till thou fhalt call us higher,
There to behold thy face:
Oh height of grace!
Oh depth of love!
Lord fit us for
Our place above.

Who can thy love express?
Thy mercy ne'er decays!
What can our fouls do lefs
Than love thee all our days?
Blefs God, each foul,
Ev'n unto death;
And write a fong

For ev'ry breath.

adore bounteous hand,

And fing the folemn feast, Where fweet celeftial dainties stand

For ev'ry willing gueft.

The food's prepar'd by heav'nly art,
The pleasures well refin'd;

They spread new life thro' ev'ry heart,
And cheer the drooping mind.

Shout and proclaim the Savior's love,
Ye faints that tafte his wine:

Join with your kindred faints above,
In loud hofannas join.

A thousand glories to the God,
That gives fuch joy as this;
Hofanna! let it found abroad,
And reach where Jesus is.

New-Year's Day.

THILE, with ceaseless course, the Sun
Hafted thro' the former year,

W

Many fouls their race have run ;

Never more to meet us here:

Fix'd in an eternal ftate,

They have done with all below;

We a little longer wait

1

But how little, none can know.
As the winged arrow flies
Speedily the mark to find;
As the lightning from the skies
Darts, and leaves no trace behind;
Swiftly thus our fleeting days.
Bear us down life's rapid ftream :
Lord, our expectations raise-

"

All below is but a dream.

Thanks for mercies paft receive;
Former kindneffes renew:
From this moment may we live
With eternity in view:
Bless the word to young and old:
Shed abroad a Savior's love;
And, when life's fhort tale is told,
May we dwell with thee above.

Doddridge,

TERNAL God, we blefs thy name:

The fame thy pow'r, thy grace the fame:

The tokens of thy friendly care

Open, and crown, and close the year.
We 'midft ten thousand dangers ftand,
Supported by thy guardian hand;
And fee, when we furvey thy ways,
Ten thousand monuments of praise.
Thus far thy arm has led us op;
Thus far we make thy mercy known;
