3 Remember all thy offerings,

And accept thy burnt sacrifice;

4 Grant thee according to thine own heart,

And fulfil all thy counsel.

5 We will rejoice in thy salvation,

And in the name of our God we will set up our banners:

The LORD fulfil all thy petitions.

6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed;

(He will hear him from his holy heaven

{

With the saving strength of his right hand.

7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses:

But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

8 They are brought down and fallen:

But we are risen, and stand upright.

[blocks in formation]

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness, for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies : Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;
(Who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity,
Nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord,

And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, That seek thy face, O Jacob.

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates;

And be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors;
And the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory?

The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; And the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory?

The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory.

PSALM XXVII.

THE LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

THE

The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up They stumbled and fell.

3 Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear : Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;

[my flesh,

That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

5 § For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:
In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;

He shall set me up upon a rock.

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;

I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice:

Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face;

My heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in

Thou hast been my help;

{have has lot, neither

anger:

Leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me,

Then the LORD will take me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O LORD,

And lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies:

For false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. 13 I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

[blocks in formation]

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:

Wait, I say, on the LORD.

LESSON 8.

PSALM XXIX.

NIVE unto the LORD, O ye mighty,

GIVE

Give unto the LORD glory and strength.

2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name;

Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters:

The God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.

4 The voice of the LORD is powerful;

The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars:

Yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf;

Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. 8The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness;

The LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, And discovereth the forests:

And in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.

10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood;

Yea, the LORD sitteth King forever.

11 The LORD will give strength unto his people;

The LORD will bless his people with peace.

[blocks in formation]

Sing unto him with the psaltery, and an instrument of ten strings.

3 Sing unto him a new song;

Play skilfully with a loud noise.

4 For the word of the LORD is right;

And all his works are done in truth.

5 He loveth righteousness and judgment:

The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made;

And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap : He layeth up the depth in storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the LORD:

Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake and it was done;

He commanded, and it stood fast.

10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: He maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

11 The counsel of the LORD standeth forever,

The thoughts of his heart to all generations.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD;

And the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

13 The LORD looketh from heaven;

He beholdeth all the sons of men.

14 From the place of his habitation he looketh Upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15 He fashioneth their hearts alike;

He considereth all their works.

16 There is no king saved by the multitude of a host: A mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

17 An horse is a vain thing for safety:

Neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. 18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, Upon them that hope in his mercy ;

19 To deliver their soul from death,

And to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD:

He is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him,

Because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, According as we hope in thee.

I

LESSON 9.

PSALM XXXIV.

WILL bless the LORD at all times:

His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3 Oh magnify the LORD with me,

And let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me,

And delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: And their faces were not ashamed.

6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him,

And saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, And delivereth them.

8 Oh taste and see that the LORD is good:

Blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

9 Oh fear the LORD, ye his saints:

For there is no want to them that fear him.

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger:

But they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me:

I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

12 What man is he that desireth life,

And loveth many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep thy tongue from evil,

And thy lips from speaking guile.

14 Depart from evil, and do good;

Seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, And his ears are open unto their cry.
