MOTIONS

Senator Bichler moved that Jt. Res. No. 8, S., relating to exporting arms and contraband of war, be recalled from committee and made a special order for tomorrow at 10:30 o'clock, a. m.

Senator Bray moved to amend by striking out "for tomorrow at 10:30 o'clock, a. m.," and inserting "now," which amendment was accepted by Senator Bichler as a part of hs motion.

Senator Ackley moved to amend the motion so that all resolutions, petitions and communications relating to the war be recalled from the committee, which motion was not agreed to.

The question then was: Shall Jt. Res. No. 8, S. be recalled from committee and made a special order now.

The ayes and noes were requested, and the vote was: Ayes, 7; noes, 22; absent or not voting, 4; as follows:

Ayes-Senators Arnold, Barwig, Bichler, Bosshard, Bray, Huber and Staudenmayer-7.

Noes-Senators Ackley, Baxter, Bennett, Culbertson, Cunningham, Everett, Fairchild, Glenn, Hanson, Jennings, Kellogg, Martin, Monk, Mulberger, Perry, Potts, Richards, Skogmo, Stevens, Tomkins, Weissleder and Whitman-22. Absent or not voting Senators Albers, Burke, Rollmann and Scott-4.

So the senate refused to recall the joint resolution.

So the bill was concurred in.

Senator Bennett moved that the committee on Education and Public Welfare report next Thursday, March 4, 1915, at the close of the regular session, on all war resolutions, petitions and communications, and that these be considered at that time.

The ayes and noes were requested, and the vote was: Ayes, 18; noes, 11; absent or not voting, 3; as follows:

Ayes Senators Arnold, Barwig, Bennett, Bichler, Bosshard, Bray, Burke, Cunningham, Everett, Fairchild, Huber, Jennings, Kellogg, Mulberger, Perry, Staudenmayer, Weissleder and Whitman-18.

Noes-Senators Ackley, Baxter, Culbertson, Glenn, Hanson, Martin, Monk, Potts, Skogmo, Stevens and Tomkins-11.

Absent or not voting-Senators Albers, Rollmann and Scott-3.

Senator Richards voted present.

So the motion prevailed.

Leave of absence was granted to Senator Everett for tomorrow and to Senator Weissleder for the remainder of this week.

Upon motion of Senator Weissleder, the senate adjourned.

In memory of Samuel S. Fifield. Senator Tomkins said:

With head bowed in deep respect, with heart laden with sorrow, I call to the attention of the senate the passing of Ex-Lieutenant Governor Samuel S. Fifield, of Ashland, Wis.
