WHITTEN. C. M. 184 I O LOVE! which lightens all distress, O grave! whose very emptiness 2 Let but that Love our hearts supply 185 I O JESUS, when I think of Thee, In Thee, and Thee alone. 2 I see Thee in Thy weakness first t; I see Thee death's strong fetters burst, 3 In each, a brother's love I trace By power divine exprest, As on Thy mother's breast. 4 For me Thou didst become a man, For me didst weep and die; 5 Oh let me share Thy holy birth, Thy faith, Thy death to sin! 6 Then shall I know what means the strain Triumphant of Saint Paul: "To live is Christ, to die is gain ;" "Christ is my all in all.” 186 I THE morning purples all the sky, The world exulting sings: 2 While He, the King all strong to save, 3 Death's captive, in his gloomy prison Fast fettered He has lain; 4 But He has mastered death, is risen, With grief; no spices bring; 5 That Thou our Paschal Lamb may'st be, From the dread death of sin. On earth, in heaven, to God Most For Christ's great victory! I HAIL, the day that sees Him rise, 2 Him though highest heaven receives, 3 Master, will we ever say, Taken from our head to-day, 4 Ever upward let us move, I CROWNS of glory ever bright Rest upon the Conqueror's head; His "who liveth and was dead." In the fight He stood alone; By His single arm o'erthrown. 2 His the battle, His the toil, His the honors of the day, Jesus bears them all away: Fill the world with His renown; His the everlasting crown! |
