I SWEET is the memory of Thy grace, 2 God reigns on high, but ne'er confines Through the whole earth His bounty shines, And every want supplies. 3 With longing eyes Thy creatures wait 4 How kind are Thy compassions, Lord! 5 Creatures, with all their endless race, But saints that taste Thy richer grace 3 Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale, Delight to bless Thy Name. 61 Yet will I fear none ill; For Thou art with me, and Thy rod And staff me comfort still. In presence of my foes; I THY goodness, Lord, our souls confess, 4 My table Thou hast furnished 2 Sun, moon, and stars, Thy love attest My head Thou dost with oil anoint, 5 Goodness and mercy, all my life, Shall surely follow me ; DEWITT. C. M. 63 I THE Lord our God, is full of might, The winds obey His will; He speaks, and in His heavenly height, The rolling sun stands still. 2 Rebel, ye waves, and o'er the land With threatening aspect roar; The Lord uplifts His awful hand, And chains you to the shore. 3 Ye winds of night, your force combine; Without His high behest, Ye shall not in the mountain pine Disturb the sparrow's nest. 4 His voice sublime is heard afar, 5 Ye nations, bend, in reverence bend ; The cheerful psaltery bring along, 3 Blow as is wont in the new moon, The appointed time, the day whereon Our solemn feast comes round. 65 I I SING the almighty power of God, That made the mountains rise, That spread the flowing seas abroad, And built the lofty skies. 2 I sing the wisdom that ordained The moon shines full at His command, 3 I sing the goodness of the Lord, That filled the earth with food; He formed the creatures with His word, But makes Thy glories known; By order from Thy throne. 5 Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed Where'er I turn mine eye, If I survey the ground I tread, Or gaze upon the sky. 6 Creatures, as numerous as they be, I THE Lord Jehovah reigns; His glories shine with beams so bright 2 The thunders of His hand Keep the wide world in awe ; And where His love resolves to bless, 4 And can this mighty King And will He write His name, I love His name, I love His word; I THE Lord Jehovah lives, 2 The Lord Jehovah lives, The follies that offend! He wipes the penitential tear, To hear and answer prayer; And trusts His guardian care, A Father's tender love shall know, Whence living streams of comfort flow. 4 The Lord Jehovah lives Salvation to secure ; 'Tis drawn in characters of blood, I THROUGH all the changing scenes of life, In trouble and in joy, The praises of my God shall still My heart and tongue employ. 2 The hosts of God encamp around 3 Oh make but trial of His love! How blest are they, and only they, 4 Fear Him, ye saints, and you will then Have nothing else to fear; Make you His service your delight; He'll make your wants His care. 69 Psalm 116. I WHAT shall I render to my God My songs address Thy throne. 2 Among the saints that fill Thy house, My offerings shall be paid; There shall my zeal perform the vows My soul in anguish made. 3 How much is mercy Thy delight, How dear Thy servants in Thy sight! I To heaven I lift my waiting eyes; The Lord that built the earth and skies 2 Their steadfast feet shall never fall 3 Israel, rejoice, and rest secure ; His wakeful eyes employ His power 4 He guards thy soul, He keeps thy breath, Where thickest dangers come; Till God commands Thee home. BYEFIELD. C. M. 71 1 GOD moves in a mysterious way 2 Deep in unfathomable mines Of never-failing skill, He treasures up His bright designs, And works His sovereign will. 3 Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take; 4 Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, 5 His purposes will ripen fast, 2 In foreign realms and lands remote, Supported by Thy care, Through burning climes they pass unhurt, And breathe in tainted air. 3 When by the dreadful tempest borne High on the broken wave, They know Thou art not slow to hear, Nor impotent to save. 4 The storm is laid, the winds retire, The sea, that roars at Thy command, 5 In midst of dangers, fears, and deaths, Thy goodness we'll adore; We'll praise Thee for Thy mercies past, And humbly hope for more. 6 Our life, while Thou preserv'st that life, Thy sacrifice shall be ; And death, when death shall be our lot, 73 I FATHER Of Love, our Guide and Friend, Until life's trial-time shall end, 1 How are Thy servants blest, O Lord! 2 We know not what the path may be How sure is their defence ! Eternal wisdom is their guide, Their help, Omnipotence. As yet by us untrod; But we can trust our all to Thee, Our Father and our God! |
