Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Etchman.

The reading of the Journal of Friday last was dispensed with. Petitions &c., were presented and referred as follows:

By Mr. Hunter,

The Remonstrance of Oliver Parsons and 63 others, against the election, by the people, of the City Comptroller of the City of Milwaukee,

Referred to the Senators from Milwaukee County.

By Mr. Blair,

The petition of Abram Decker and and 98 others, citizens of Washington County, asking for an alteration of the Law in relation to advertising for sale of lands for taxes,

Referred to the Committee on expiration and re-enactment of Laws.

Also,

The petition of W. Lyon and 125 others, citizens of Washington County in relation to fees of certain officers,

Referred to the Committee on Town and County Organization. And,

The petition of R. N. Byrne and 143 others, praying for a change of County Government and the appointment of County Auditors,

Mr. Whittlesey introduced the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Secretary of State is hereby requested to communicate to the Senate whether he has authenticated by his Official Certificate and the great seal of the State, since the last session of the Legislature, "Fox and Wisconsin Improvement Scrip," to Morgan L. Martin. If so, what amount, and in what form, and by what authority, and to furnish the Senate with a copy of the same.

No. 76 S., A bill authorizing the town of Beloit to aid in the construction of a certain Rail Road.

No. 78 S., A bill to authorize the Counties, Towns, Cities and Villages interested in the La Crosse and Milwaukee Rail Road to lend their credit in aid of its construction.

No. 79 S. A bill to fix the terms of the Circuit Court in the third Judicial Circuit.

Said bill No. 75 S., was referred to the Committee on Incorporations-No. 76 S., to the Committee on Internal improvements and No. 77 S., to the Committee on Judiciary.

Said bill No. 78 was laid on the table.

On motion of Mr. Blair the printing of said bill No. 79 S., was dispensed with.

Mr. Alban from the Committee on Legislative Expenditures, re"ported the following bills which were severally read the first and second times.

No. 80 S., A bill to appropriate to Demming Fitch the sum of money therein named.

No. 81 S., A bill to appropriate to J. F. Burchard the sum of money therein named.

No. 82 S., A bill to appropriate to J. C. Fairchild the sum of money therein named.

No. 83 S. A bill to appropriate to James Halpin the sum therein named.

No. 84 S. A bill to appropriate to Ezra L. Varney the sum therein named.

No. 85 S. A bill to appropriate to Holt & Brown the sum of money therein named.

No. 86 S., A bill to appropriate to D. Holt the sum therein named, and

No. 87 S., A bill to appropriate to Tibbits & Gordon the sum therein named,

Mr. Dunn from the Committee on Judiciary to whom the same had been referred, reported back to the Senate.

No. 12 S., A bill in relation to Mills and Mill dams,

With the following amendment;

Amend by inserting immediately after the word "have" in the 12th line of the 4th section, the following "and if they have no Agent or Agents then by publication as herein before provided," Also from the same Committee adverse to the passage of

No. 23 S., A bill to amend sections 52 and 84 of Chap. 15 of the Revised Statutes.

The report of the Committee as to said bill No. 23 S., was concurred in.

Mr. Wakeley from the same Committee, reported adverse to the passage of

No. 23 A., A bill to provide for the uniform election of County Officers in certain Counties,

Said report was concurred in.

Mr. Lewis from the same Committee reported adverse to the passage of

No. 29 A., A bill to amend Chapter 88 section 219 of the Revised Statutes.

The said report was concurred in.

Mr. Briggs, from the committee on Printing, to whom the same had been referred, reported back

No. 52 (A), a bill appropriating to E. B. Quiner the sum therein named,

Without amendment.

Mr. Blair, from the committee on Engrossed Bills, reported as correctly engrossed

No. 15 (S), a bill for the preservation of Game, and

No. 58 (S, a bill granting to Timothy Fanning the right to keep and maintain a ferry across the Mississippi River.

Said bill No. 15 (S), was read a third time,
And on motion of Mr. Dunn, laid on the table.

Said bill No. 58 (S), was read a third time, and

On motion of Mr. Wakeley, referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Blair moved that the rules be suspended, and that

No. 79 (S), a bill to fix the terms of the Circuit Court in the third Judicial Circuit,

Be put upon its passage now,

Which was disagreed to.

Mr. Bovec, from the committee on Enrolled Bills,, submitted the following report:

The committee on Enrolled Bills have examined No. 4 (A), a bill to extend the time for the completion of a bridge across Platte River in Grant County.

No. 2 (A), a bill to amend "an act to incorporate the Sheboygan and Mississippi R. R. Co.," approved March 8th, 1852.

No. 12 (A), a bill to amend Sec. 16, of "an act to incorporate the Port Washington and Newberg Plank and Turnpike Company," approved April 19, 1852.

No. 36 (A), a bill to vacate a part of Water and Fifteenth streets in the village of Manitowoc.

Also, Joint Resolution concerning the Menominee Tribe of Indians.

And report the same as correctly enrolled, Jan. 31st, 1852.

The committee on Enrolled Bills has presented to the Governor for his approval,

An act to allow appeals to be taken from the decision of the State Land Office.
