An Act to appropriate to John W. Hunt a certain sum of money.

An Act to authorise the several towns therein named to vote on the question of loaning their credit in aid of a certain Railroad. An Act to provide for the receiving and distribution of the trial of Impeachment of Levi Hubbell, Judge, &c., and for paying the expenses thereof.

An Act to appropriate to Lyman Cowdrey the sum therein named.

MR. PRESIDENT:

I am directed to present for your signature,

An Act to amend an act entitled "an act to incorporate the Neenah and Manitowoc Plank Road Company.

An Act to establish the compensation of the Sergeant-at-Arms of both Houses of the Legislature and the persons employed by them.

An Act authorising the village of Geneva to aid in the construction of Railroads.

An Act relative to voluntary assignments of choses in action. An act authorising the building and maintaining a certain mill dam.

An Act to pay Timothy O. Howe, the sum therein named.

An Act to provide for the publication and distribution of 800 copies of the trial of impeachment of Levi Hubbell, and to pay therefor.

An Act to provide for the laying ont of a certain state road. An Act to authorise certain towns to aid in construction of the Milwaukee and Watertown Railroad.

An Act relating to the city of Watertown.

An Act to amend an act entitled "An act to incorporate the Milwaukee and Watertown Railroad Company, and the acts amendatory thereto.

An Act to incorporate the Anglo German Academy of the city of Milwaukee.

An Act to establish the salaries of the Chief Clerks of the Sen ate and Assembly.

An Act to change the name of the person therein named.

An Act for the relief of Samuel Roberts and Asa A. Parker, and

An act to incorporate the Columbus and Madison Plank Road Company.

An Act to appropriate certain sums of money therein named. An Act to provide for the appraisal of Capital lands.

An Act to appropriate to John Taylor the sum therein named. An Act authorising certain persons elected to the office of Justice of the Peace to qualify and take the oath of office.

Which have been signed by the Speaker of the Assembly.

Message from the Assembly:

Mr. PRESIDENT:

I am directed to present for your signature.

An Act to incorporate the Madison Institute.

Which has been signed by the Speaker of the Assembly.

I am

also directed to inform you that the Assembly has

adopted the following resolution:

Resolved, By the Assembly the Senate concurring, that the Attorney General be and hereby is directed in the fulfillment of his duties in connection with the settlement of Canal Land Mortgages, to allow credits on mortgages where the proper vouchers for the payment of money are exhibited, and also should any discrepancy appear between the amounts paid to the officers of the State as evidenced by such receipts and the amount returned by such officers to the State, to report the same to the next Legislature.

And, further, that the Attorney General be instructed to ascertain the condition of all canal land mortrages and to take proper measures to institute proceedings if necessary to recover possession of the same.

And also, has adopted the following resolution:

Resolved, That a committee of two on the part of the Assembly be appointed to act with a similar committee on the part of the Senate, to wait upon his Excellency the Governor, and inform him that the two Houses have completed the business before them, and to enquire if he has any further communication to make to them, and has appointed on such committee on the part of the Assembly, Messrs. Holmes and Donaldson.

And have also adopted the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly be directed to inform the Senate that the Assembly has completed the business before it, and is now ready to adjourn sine die.

The first and second of said resolutions of the Assembly were concurred in by the Senate.

Messrs. Stewart and Lewis were appointed a committee on the part of the Senate under the second of said resolutions.

Mr. Bovee from the Committee on Enrolled Bills, submitted the following report:

An Act to amend an act entitled an act to provide for the or

ganization of a separate Supreme Court, and for the election of justices thereof.

An Act to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the Lake Hydraulic Company, approved April 5, 1853.

An Act to appropriate to Matthias Martin a sum of money therein named,

An Act to amend Chapter 431 of the Session Laws of 1852, and the act amendatory thereto.

An Act to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the Green Bay and Minnesota Railroad Company.

An Act authorising the building and maintaining of a certain mill dam.

An act to authorise certain towns to aid in the construction of the Milwaukee and Watertown Railroad.

An Act establishing the salaries of the Chief Clerks of the Senate and Assembly.

An Act to change the name of the person therein named.

An Act to amend an act entitled an act to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the Neenah and Manitowoc Plank Road Company.

To the Senate and Assembly:

I have approved, signed, and deposited, with the Secretary of State, all the bills, presented to me, at the present adjourned Session of the Legislature.

LEONARD J. FARWELL.

Mr. Lewis, from the joint Committee appointed by the two Houses to wait upon the Governor, reported that His Excellency had no further communication to make to this Legislature.

Mr. Blair, moved that the Chief Clerk be desired now to inform the Assembly that the Senate has now completed the business before it, and is ready to adjourn.

Which was agreed to.

The Assembly was accordingly so informed.

And the hour of 6 o'clock, A. M., having arrived,

Mr. REED, the President of the Senate pro tempore, occupying the chair, in the absence of the Lieutenant Governor, arose and addressed, the Senate as follows:
