Message from the Assembly: Mr. PRESIDENT: I am directed to present for your signature. An Act to incorporate the Madison Institute. Which has been signed by the Speaker of the Assembly. I am also directed to inform you that the Assembly has adopted the following resolution: Resolved, By the Assembly the Senate concurring, that the Attorney General be and hereby is directed in the fulfillment of his duties in connection with the settlement of Canal Land Mortgages, to allow credits on mortgages where the proper vouchers for the payment of money are exhibited, and also should any discrepancy appear between the amounts paid to the officers of the State as evidenced by such receipts and the amount returned by such officers to the State, to report the same to the next Legislature. And, further, that the Attorney General be instructed to ascertain the condition of all canal land mortrages and to take proper measures to institute proceedings if necessary to recover possession of the same. And also, has adopted the following resolution: Resolved, That a committee of two on the part of the Assembly be appointed to act with a similar committee on the part of the Senate, to wait upon his Excellency the Governor, and inform him that the two Houses have completed the business before them, and to enquire if he has any further communication to make to them, and has appointed on such committee on the part of the Assembly, Messrs. Holmes and Donaldson. And have also adopted the following resolution: Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly be directed to inform the Senate that the Assembly has completed the business before it, and is now ready to adjourn sine die.
