have compassion on us, and help us." 23 And Jesus said to him, "If thou canst [believe?] All things are possible for him who believeth." 24 And immediately the father of the child crying out, said with tears, "I believe: help thou mine unbelief."

33 AND he came to Capernaum, and, being in a house, he asked them, "What were ye disputing about [among yourselves] on the way?" 34 But they kept silence: for they had disputed among themselves, on the way, who should be greatest. 35 And setting down, he 25 Now Jesus seeing that a called the twelve, and said to crowd was running together, them, "If any one desire to be rebuked the impure spirit, say-first, he must be last of all, and ing to it, "Thou dumb and a servant of all." 36 And taking deaf spirit, I command thee, a little child, he set him in the Come out of him, and enter no midst of them: then holding more into him." 26 And cry-him in his arms, he said to ing out, and convulsing him them, 37" Whosoever shall regreatly, it came out of him; and ceive one of such little children he was as one dead; so that in my name, receiveth me: and many said, "He is dead." 27 whosoever shall receive me, But Jesus taking him by the receiveth not only me, but him hand, raised him up; and he who sent me." arose.

38 Then John spake to him, 28 Now when Jesus was saying, "Master, we saw one come into a house, his disci-casting out demons in thy name, ples asked him privately, "Why and we forbade him. [because could not we cast him out?" 29 he followeth not us."] 39 But And he said to them, "This Jesus said, "Forbid him not: kind of power can by no means for there is none who worketh go forth, but by prayer and fast- a miracle in my name, who can ing." readily speak evil of me. 40 For he that is not against you, is for you. 41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye are Christ's, verily I tell you, he shall by no means lose his reward. 42 And whosoever shall insnare one of these lowly ones, who believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were put about his neck, and that he were cast into the sea.

30 AND departing thence, they went through Galilee; and he was unwilling that any one should know it. 31 For he taught his disciples, and said to them, "The Son of man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men; and they will kill him; and being killed, he will arise on the third day." 32 But they understood not what he meant; and were afraid to ask him.

"For the perverseness of your heart, he wrote you this precept. 6 But at the beginning of the creation God made them a male and a female. 7

On account of this, a man shall leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they two shall be one flesh.' 8 So that they are no more two; but one flesh. 9 What, therefore, God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

thee, cut it off; it is better for | to them,
thee to enter maimed into life,
than, having two hands, to go
into Gehenna, [into the un-
quenchable fire;] 44[where their
worm dieth not, and the fire is
not quenched.] 45 And if thy
foot insnare thee, cut it off: it
is better for thee to enter into
life lame, than having two feet,
to be cast into Gehenna, [into the
unquenchable fire ;] 46 [where
their worm dieth not, and the
fire is not quenched.] 47 And
if thine eye insnare thee, pluck
it out: it is better for thee to
enter into the kingdom of God
with one eye, than having two
eyes, to be cast into [the fire of]
Gehenna; 48 where their worm
dieth not, and the fire is not
quenched. 49 For every one
shall be salted with fire, and
every sacrifice shall be salt-
ed with salt. 50 Salt is good:
but if the salt become tasteless,
wherewith will ye season it?
Have salt in yourselves; and be
at peace one with another."

10 And in the house, his disciples again asked him concerning this matter. 11 And he said to them, "Whosoever shall put away his wife, and shall marry another, committeth adultery against her. 12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and shall be married to another, she committeth adultery."

13 AND they brought little children to him, that he might touch them: but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14 Now Jesus perceiving this, was much displeas

the little children to come to me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Verily I tell you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he can by no means enter therein." 16 Then taking them in his arms, and laying his hands on them, he blessed them.

CH. X. 1 AND, arising from thence, he came into the bor-ed, and said to them, "Suffer ders of Judea, on the further side of Jordan; 2 and the multitude resorted to him again and, as his custom was, he taught them again. And the Pharisees approaching, asked him, "Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife?" This they said, trying him. 3 And he answering, said to them, "What did Moses command you?" 4 17 AND on his going forth, And they said, "Moses suffer-into the road, one ran, and kneeled us to write a bill of divorce-ing down to him, asked him, ment, and to put her away." "Good Teacher, what shall I 5 And Jesus answering, said do, that I may inherit aionian

life?" 18 And Jesus said to him, 28 PETER began to say to him, "Why callest thou me good?" Lo, we have left all, and have

there is none good, but one, that
is God. 19 Thou knowest the
commandments, 'Do not com-
mit adultery; [Do not commit
murder;] Do not steal; Do not
bear false witness; Defraud not;
Honour thy father and mother.'
20 And he answering, said
to him, "Teacher, all these
things I have kept from my
youth." 21 Then Jesus looking
on him, loved him, and said to
him, "In one thing thou art
deficient: go, sell whatsoever
thou hast, and give to [the] poor,
and thou shalt have treasure in
heaven and come, [taking up
the cross] and follow me.'
." 22
And he was sad at these words,
and went away sorrowful: for
he had great possessions. 23
And Jesus looking round about,
said to his disciples, "With
what difficulty will those that
have riches enter into the king-
dom of God!”

followed thee." 29 Jesus answering, said, "Verily I tell you, There is no one who hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, [or wife,] or children, or lands, for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, 30 but he shall receive an hundred-fold, now, in this time; houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the age to come, aionian life. 31 But many who are first will be last; and the last first."

32 NOW being on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus walked before them and they were seized with a horror, and followed him with fear. Then taking the twelve aside, he began to tell them the things which were about to befal him: 33" Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man 24 And the disciples were will be delivered up to the astonished at his words. But chief-priests, and to [the] Jesus speaking again, said to scribes; and they will condemn them, Children, how difficult him to death, and will deliver is it for those who trust in rich-him up to the gentiles: 34 and es, to enter into the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier that a camel should go through [the] eye of a needle, than that a rich man should enter into the kingdom of God." 26 And they were exceedingly amazed, saying among themselves, "Who then can be saved?" 27 And Jesus looking on them, said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God: [for with God all things are possible.]

and

they will scoff at him, and will
scourge him, and will spit on
him, and will kill him:
the third day he will be raised
from the dead."

35 AND James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him, saying, "Teacher, we request that thou wouldst do for us whatsoever we shall ask." 36 And he said to them, "What do ye desire that I should do for you?" 37 Then they said

to him, "Grant us that we may | sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory." 38 But Jesus said to them, "Ye know not what ye ask can ye drink of the cup of which I am to drink? and be baptized with the baptism with which I am to be baptized?" 39 And they said to him, “We can." And Jesus said to them, "Ye will drink indeed of the cup of which I am to drink; and will be baptized with the baptism with which I am to be baptized: 40 but, to sit on my right hand, and on my left hand, is not mine to give, except to those for whom it is prepared."

41 And the ten hearing this, began to be moved with indignation against James and John. 42 But Jesus, having called them together, said to them, "Ye know that those who rule over the gentiles have dominion over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But it shall not be so among you but whoso ever desireth to be great among you, must be your servant: 44 and whosoever of you, desireth to be chief, must be the slave of all. 45 For even the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve; and to give his life a ransom for many.

reth, he began to cry out, and to say, "Jesus, thou son of David, have pity on me." 48 And many rebuked him, that he might be silent: but he cried out much louder, "Thou son of David, have pity on me."

49 And Jesus stopping, ordered him to be called: and they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be encouraged, rise; he calleth thee." 50 And casting away his mantle, he rose up, and went to Jesus. 51 And Jesus speaking, said to him, "What dost thou wish me to do for thee?" Then the blind man said to him, "Master, that I may receive my sight." 52 And Jesus said to him, "Go: thy faith hath restored thee." And immediately, he received his sight, and followed him on the road.

CH. XI. 1 AND when they drew near to Jerusalem, being come as far as Bethphage, and Bethany, near the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, 2" Go into the town, over-against you: and immediately as ye enter into it, ye will find a colt tied, whereon no man ever sat: loose it, and bring it to me. S And if any one say to you,

Why do ye this?' say, 'The Master hath need of it:' and immediately, he will send it hi46 AND they came to Jericho: ther." 4 And they went away, and on his going out of Jericho, and found a colt, tied by a door, with his disciples, and a great without, in a place where two crowd, blind Bartimeus, (that roads met; and they loosed it. is, the son of Timeus,) sat by 5 And some of those who the road, begging. 47 And hear-stood there, said to them, ing that it was Jesus of Naza- "What do ye, loosing the colt?"

6 And they, having answered as Jesus had commanded them, were allowed to take it. 7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their mantles on it: and he sat thereon. 8 And many spread their mantles in the road: and others cut down boughs from the trees, and strewed them in the road.

9 And those who went before, and those who followed, shouted, [saying,] "Hosanna: Blessed be he who cometh in the name of the Lord. 10 Happy be the approaching reign of our father David: Hosanna in the highest." 11 And [Jesus] entered into Jerusalem, [even] into the temple: and having surveyed all things round about, it being late, he departed, with the twelve, to Bethany.

taught them, saying, "Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations?' but ye have made it a den of robbers." 18 And the scribes and the chief-priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the multitude was amazed at his doctrine. 19 And when evening was come, he went out of the city.

20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig-tree withered away from the roots. 21 Whereupon Peter recollecting, said to him, "Master, behold the fig-tree, which thou hast devoted, already withered." 22 And Jesus answering, said to them, "Have faith in God. 23 For verily I tell you, 12 AND on the morrow, on Whosoever shall say to this their coming from Bethany, he mountain, Be thou removed, was hungry. 13 And seeing a and be thou cast into the sea;' fig-tree at a distance, full of and shall not doubt in his leaves, he went to see if he heart, but shall believe that what could find any fruit on it, (for he saith will come to pass; he the season for the gathering of shall have [whatsoever he saith;] figs was not come,) but on 24 for which reason, I tell you, coming to it, he found nothing All things whatsoever ye ask but leaves. 14 Whereupon he when ye pray, believe that ye will said to it; "Henceforth let no receive them, and ye shall have one eat fruit of thee to the age.' them. 25 And when ye stand And his disciples heard it. praying, forgive, if ye have 15 AND they came to Jeru-aught against any: Then also salem and going into the your Father in heaven, will fortemple, he began to drive out give you your trespasses. 26 those who sold and bought in But if ye do not forgive, the temple: and he overthrew neither will your Father in the tables of the money-chang-heaven, forgive your trespasses. ers, and the seats of those who 27 AND they again came to sold doves; 16 and would not Jerusalem : and as he was suffer any one to carry a vessel walking in the temple, there through the temple. 17 He also came to him, the chief-priests,
