6 And the chief-priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury; because it is the price of blood." 7 And taking counsel, they bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8 Wherefore that field is called The field of blood, to this day. 9 (Then was fulfilled the word of the prophet [Jeremiah], who saith. "And I took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him who was valued, whom they of the sons of Israel valued; 10 and gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me.")

11 AND Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying "Art thou the King of the Jews?" And Jesus said to him, "Thou sayest it." 12 And when he was CH. to them, "Whom will ye that I release to you; Barabbas*, or Jesus that is called Christ ?" 18 (For he knew that through envy they had delivered him up: 19 and while he was sitting on the judgment-seat, his wife had sent to him, saying, "Have thou nothing to do with that righteous man: for I have suffered many things this day, in a dream, because of him.") 20 But the chief-priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barab. bas, and destroy Jesus.

27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus with them into the judgment-hall, where they gathered around him the whole band. 28 And having stripped him, they put on him a scarlet robe. 29 and having platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and kneeling down, before him, they derided him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews." 30 And they spat on him; and took the reed, and struck him on the head. 31 And having derided him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

21 Then the governor answering, said to them, "Which of the two will ye that I release to you?" and they said "Barabbas." 22 Pilate said to them, "What then shall I do to Jesus, who is called Christ ?" They all said [to him], "Let him be crucified." 23 And the governout, or said, "Why, what evil hath he done?" But they cried out exceedingly, saying, "Let him be crucified."

32 AND as they were coming

two robbers were crucified with him: one on his right hand, and another on his left.

51 And lo! the veil of the temple was rent in two, from the top to the bottom: and the earth quaked, and the rocks were rent; 52 and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of saints, who slept, arose: 53 and they came out of the tombs after his resurrection, and entered into the holy city, and appeared to many.

45 Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over all the land, until the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 47 Then some of the bystanders, hearing this, said, "He calleth Elijah." 48 And immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, filled it with vinegar, and putting it on a reed, gave him to drink. 49 But the rest said, "Forbear: let us see whether Elijah will come and save him." 50 Then Jesus, having cried again with a loud voice, expired.

58 This man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. 59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in clean linen; 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in a rock and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed. 61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary; sitting over against the tomb.

62 NOW on the morrow,, he is risen, as he said: come,

see the place where the Lord lay,* 7 and depart quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead: and, lo! he will go before you into Galilee; there ye shall see him. Lo! I have told you." 8 And they went out in haste from the tomb with fear and great joy; and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And [as they went to tell his disciples], lo! Jesus met them, saying,

being the day after the preparation, the chief-priests and the Pharisees came together to Pilate, 63 saying, "Sir, we remember that this deceiver said, while he was yet alive, Within three days I will rise again." 64 Command therefore that the tomb be made secure, till the third day; lest his disciples come and steal him away, and say to the people, He is risen from the dead :' for this last" Peace be to you."
