PREFACE THIS Volume follows the general lines of its predecessor, which dealt with the period from November 1919 to November 1920. The survey is here carried on from the latter date to the end of 1921, although a few foreign publications earlier than November 1920 are noticed. In future The Year's Work in English Studies will, it is hoped, cover the publications of the calendar year previous to its date of issue. The Editors have been able to enlist the services of an increased number of specialist contributors, who are responsible for the opinions expressed in the sections under their charge. Some rearrangement of the sections has thus been made feasible. It will facilitate the production of The Year's Work if publishers and editors of periodicals, especially those appearing in America or on the Continent, will send copies of books or magazines at as early a date as possible to the Secretary of The English Association (4 Buckingham Gate, London, S.W.).
