so he bringeth them unto the haven where they would be.

9 O that men would therefore praise the Lord for his goodness, and declare the wonders that he doeth for the children of men.

10 That they would exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders!

11 Who turneth the floods into a wilderness, and the water-springs into dry ground.

12 A fruitful land maketh he barren, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

13 Again, he maketh the wilderness a standing water, and water-springs of a dry ground.

14 And there he setteth the hungry, that they may build them a city to dwell in;

15 That they may sow their land and plant vineyards, to yield them fruits of increase.

16 He blesseth them so that they multiply exceedingly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

17 Again, when they are diminished and brought low, through oppression, through any plague or trouble;

18 Though he suffer them to be evil entreated, through tyrants, and let them wander out of the way in the wilderness;

19 Yet helpeth he the poor out of misery, and maketh him households like a flock of sheep.

20 The righteous will consider this, and rejoice; and the mouth of all wickedness shall be stopped.

21 Whoso is wise will ponder these things, and they shall understand the loving-kindness of the Lord.

MORNING PRAYER.

PSALM CXI.

WILL give thanks unto the Lord with my whole heart: secretly among the faithful, and in the congregation.

2 The works of the Lord are great; sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

3 His work is worthy to be praised, and had in honour; and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4 The merciful and gracious Lord hath so done his marvellous works, that they ought to be had in remembrance.

5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

6 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are true.

7 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and equity.

8 He sent redemption unto his people; he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverent is his name.

9 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do thereafter; the praise of it endureth for ever.

PSALM CXII.

BLESSED is the man that fear the Lords. he hath great delight in his commandments. 2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the faithful shall be blessed.

3 Riches and plenteousness shall be in his house, and his righteousness endureth for ever.

4 Unto the godly there ariseth up light in the darkness; he is merciful, loving, and righteous. 5 A good man is merciful, and lendeth ; and will guide his words with discretion.

6 Surely he shall not be moved; and the righte bus shall be had in everlasting remembrance.

7 He will not be afraid of any evil tidings; for his heart standeth fast, and believeth in the Lord.

8 He hath dispersed abroad, and given to the poor: and his righteousness remaineth for ever: his horn shall be exalted with honour.

9 The ungodly shall see it, and it shall grieve him: he shall gnash with his teeth, and consume away: the desire of the ungodly shall perish.

PSALM CXIII.

RAISE the Lord, ye servants of his : O praise the name of the Lord.

PR

2 Blessed be the Name of the Lord, from this time forth for evermore.

3 The Lord's Name is praised, from the rising up of the sun unto the going down of the same. 4 The Lord is high above all heathen, and his glory above the heavens.

5 Who is like unto the Lord our God, who hath his dwelling so high, and yet humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven and earth?

6 He taketh up the simple out of the dust, and lifteth the poor out of the mire;

7 That he may set him with the princes, even with the princes of his people.

8 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children.

EVENING PRAYER.

PSALM CXIV.

WHEN Israel came out of Egypt, and the house of Jacob from among the strange

W

people;

2 Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his do

minion.

3 The sea saw that and fled; Jordan was driven back.

2

4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like young sheep.

5 What aileth thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? And thou Jordan, that thou was driven back?

6 Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams? And ye little hills, like young sheep?

7 Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

8 Who turned the hard rock into a standing water, and the flint-stone into a springing well. PSALM CXV.

OT unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy Name give the praise, for thy loving mercy, and for thy truth's sake.

2 Wherefore shall the heathen say, Where is now their God?

3 As for our God, he is in heaven; he hath done whatsoever pleased him.

4 O Israel, trust thou in the Lord; he is their succour and defence.

5 Ye house of Aaron, put your trust in the Lord he is their Helper and Defender.

6 Ye that fear the Lord, put your trust in the Lord; he is their helper and Defender.

7 The Lord hath been mindful of us, and he shall bless us; even he shall bless the house of Israel; he shall bless the house of Aaron.

8 He shall bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great.

9 The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

10 Ye are the blessed of the Lord, who made heaven and carth.

11 All the whole heavens are the Lord's; the earth hath he given to the children of men.

12 The dead praise not thee, O Lord, neither any that go down into silence.

13 But we will praise the Lord from this time forth for evermore. Praise the Lord.

MORNING PRAYER.

PSALM CXVI.

AM well pleased that the Lord hath heard the voice of my prayer;

2 That he hath inclined his ear unto me; therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

3 The snares of death compassed me round about, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me.

4 I found trouble and heaviness, and I called upon the Name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous: yea, our God is merciful.

6 The Lord preserveth the simple: I was in misery, and he helped me.

7 Turn again then unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath rewarded thee.

8 And why? thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

9 I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

10 I believed, and therefore have I spoken: but I was sore troubled; I said in my haste, All men are liars.

11 What reward shall I give unto the Lord for all the benefits which he hath done unto me?

12 I will receive the cup of salvation, and call upon the Name of the Lord.

13 I will pay my vows now in the presence of all his people: right dear in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

14 Behold, O Lord, how that I am thy servant;
