CHAPTER 265.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of $50,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary, to install, equip and maintain in the State Penitentiary or elsewhere such additional industries as the Board of Commissioners of State Institutions may establish therein, and to provide a working capital or revolving fund therefor.

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:

Section 1. Penitentiary - prison employment-appropriation. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the general fund of the State the sum of $50,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to install, equip and maintain in the State. Penitentiary or elsewhere for employment of prison labor such additional industries as the Board of Commissioners of State Institutions may establish therein, and to provide a working capital or revolving fund therefor.

Sec. 2. How expended. That the sum herein appropriated shall be expended by and under the direction of the Board of Commissioners of State Institutions.

this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.

CHAPTER 266.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of $1500.00 or so much thereof as needed for the use of Sanitary District No. 1 of Lancaster County, Nebraska for the payment of the special benefits accruing to the State Agricultural Farm in Lancaster County, Nebraska, by reason of straightening and otherwise improving the channel of a water course known as Dead Man's Run.

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:

Section 1. Straightening Dead Man's Run for. There is hereby appropriated out of the general fund the sum of $1500.00 or so much thereof as the State Engineer shall determine when the work is completed to be the value of the benefits accruing from said improvement to the State Agricultural Farm to the use of Sanitary District No. 1 of Lancaster County, Nebraska, said sum to be paid to said district upon the completion of the improvement undertaken by said district in the straightening and otherwise improving the channel of the water course known as Dead Man's Run.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of Fifteen Hundred ($1500) Dollars to the uses of the State Railway Commission, for the purpose of special investigation, extra help and car shortage investigation, and to declare an emergency.

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:

Section 1. Railway commission appropriation for investiga

tion of car shortage.-There is hereby appropriated out of any money in the general fund of the state treasury the sum of Fifteen Hundred ($1,500) Dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for the uses of the State Railway Commission for special investigation, extra help and car shortage investigation.

Section 2. How expended. The money herein appropriated shall be expended under the direction of the State Railway Commission; and the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and required, upon a presentation of the proper vouchers, to draw warrants on the general fund in the state treasury for the purposes herein set forth.

Sec. 3. Emergency. Whereas, an emergency exists, this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.

CHAPTER 268.

AN ACT to appropriate 95% of the one-fifth of one mill per annum tax levy on the grand assessment roll of the state for the years 1917 and 1918 for the State aid Bridge fund for the biennium ending March 31, 1919, and to declare an emergency.

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:

Section 1. State aid bridge fund appropriation.-There is hereby appropriated 95% of the one-fifth of one mill per annum tax levy on the grand assessment roll of the state for the years 1917 and 1918 for the State aid bridge fund, for the biennium ending March 31, 1919, to be expended according to law.

Sec. 2. Same.-When the grand assessment roll for each year of the coming biennium is made up, the auditor of public accounts and the state treasurer shall place to the credit of the state aid bridge fund 95% of said levy for the year ending March 31, 1918, and 95% of said levy for the year ending March

31, 1919, of the returns from the tax levy referred to in Section 1 of this act.

Warrants not exceeding the amount of credits specified in this section shall be drawn by the auditor on certificates presented by the State Board of Irrigation as provided by law, and warrants so drawn shall be paid by the state treasurer.

Sec. 3. State aid bridge appropriation.-There is hereby appropriated all of the unused portion of the appropriation provided for by Chapter 284, Session Laws of 1915, remaining in the hands of the State Treasurer at the close of the biennium ending March 31, 1917, for the purposes of the State Aid Bridge Fund as provided by this act.

Sec. 4. Emergency.-Whereas, an emergency exists, this act shall be in force from and after its passage and approval. Approved, April 9, 1917.

CHAPTER 269.

AN ACT to appropriate $15,000.00 for the purchase of a steel car for the use of the Nebraska Fish and Game Commission.

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:

Section 1. Fish car appropriation.-There is hereby appropriated from the general fund the sum of $15,000, for the purchase of a modern steel railroad car for the use of the Nebraska fish and game commission in the work provided by law for such commission.

Sec. 2. How expended. This appropriation shall be expended under the authority of the Nebraska fish and game commission as other appropriations for said commission are expended.

CHAPTER 270.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of six thousand dollars ($6,000.00) for the purpose of building ice house, store room and garage, and car house, rebuilding flushing system under ponds and excavating ponds, purchase of auto truck and upkeep of same, grading road from east to west entrance and to auto park, and general improvements to grounds at state fish hatcheries, Gretna.

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:

Section 1. Fish

hatcheries-buildings-appropriations.That there is hereby appropriated out of the state general fund, the sum of six thousand dollars ($6,000.00) for the following improvements and purposes at, and in connection with, the fish hatcheries at Gretna, to-wit:

For building ice house, store room and garage, three thousand dollars ($3,000.00); for purchase of auto truck and upkeep of same, one thousand dollars ($1,000.00); rebuilding flushing system and excavating ponds, one thousand dollars ($1,000.00); grading road from east to west entrance and to park, and improvements to grounds at fish hatcheries, Gretna, one thousand dollars ($1,000.00).

Sec. 2. How expended.-Said improvements and expenditures shall be made under the supervision of the deputy fish commissioner having the management and control of said hatcheries.

Sec. 3. Emergency.-Whereas, an emergency exists, this Act shall be in force from and after its passage and approval.
