On and after May 1, 1917, the manufacture, the sale, the keeping for sale or barter, the sale or barter under any pretext of malt, spirituous, vinous or other intoxicating liquors, are forever prohibited in this state, except for medicinal, scientific, or mechanical, or sacramental purposes.

I, Charles W. Pool, Secretary of State of the State of Nebraska, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of the amendment to the Constitution of the State of Nebraska, adopted at the general election held on the second Tuesday of November, 1916, according to the records of this department.

AMENDATORY ACTS

AN ACT to amend Section 62, Revised Statutes of 1913, relating to the duties of the State entomologist and to repeal said original section.

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Nebraska:

Section 1. Amendment.-That Section 62, of the Revised Statutes of 1913, is hereby amended to read as follows:

62 Sec. 62. Duty of State entomologist. It shall be the duty of the state entomologist of Nebraska to seek out and suppress pernicious insect pests and injurious and contagious plant diseases destructive to the horticultural and agricultural interests. of the state, and conduct experiments when necessary to accomplish that end. It shall also be the duty of the state entomologist to establish and declare a quarantine whenever necessary to prevent the shipment of affected plants from without the state into Nebraska, whenever such affected plant from infected territory might be the means of introducing into Nebraska dangerous plant diseases and dangerous and dangerously pernicious insect pests. The state entomologist and his assistants and all other proper officers shall have authority to seize and destroy all shipments of plants shipped in violation of a quarantine established.

Sec. 2. Repeal. That said original Section 62, Revised Statutes of 1913, is hereby repealed.
