4 Yet not thus lifeless, thus inane, The vital spark shall lie,
For o'er life's wreck that spark shall rise
5 These ashes, too, this little dust,
6 Then love's soft dew o'er every eye
And the long silent dust shall burst
8s, 7s & 4s.
O! He comes with clouds descending,
Thousand, thousand saints attending,
Jesus now shall ever reign!
2 Ev'ry eye shall now behold Him
Those who set at nought and sold Him,
Shall the great Messiah see!
3 Ev'ry island, sea, and mountain,
Come to judgment! come away!
4 Now redemption, long expected,
See the day of God appear!
5 Yea! amen! let all adore Thee,
Hallelujah! come, Lord, come!
2 When, shriv’ling like a parchéd scroll,
3 Oh, on that day, that wrathful day,
HOU Judge of quick and dead,
With holy joy, or guilty dread,
2 Our anxious souls prepare
3 To pray, and wait the hour,
1 Oh, may we all be found
Obedient to Thy word-
5 Oh, may we all insure
A home among the blest;
And watch a moment, to secure
An everlasting rest!
C. P. M.
WHEN Thou, my righteous Judge, shalt
To call Thy ransom'd people home,
But, can I bear the piercing thought?
3 Prevent it, Lord, by Thy rich grace;
In this, th' accepted day;
4 Let me among thy saints be found, Whene'er the archangel's trump shall sound, And see Thy smiling face:
Then loudest of the crowd I'll sing, While heaven's resounding mansions ring With shouts to sov'reign grace.
And must the dead arise,
2 How will my heart endure
When earth and heaven before His face
3 But ere that trumpet shakes
4 Ye sinners, seek His grace,
Whose wrath ye cannot bear;
5 So shall that curse remove,
8s, 7s & 4.
DAY of judgment-day of wonders,
Louder than a thousand thunders,
Will the sinner's heart confound!
Own me in that day for Thine!
3 At His call the dead awaken,
Rise to life from earth and sea;
What will then become of thee?
4 But to those who have confesséd,
Shall my love and glory know.”
HERE is a land of pure delight,
TH Where saints immortal reign;
Infinite day excludes the night,
