3 Believing on my Lord, I find
On Thee alone my constant mind
4 Whate'er in me seems wise, or good,
I wash my garments in the blood
5 Jesus, my Strength, my Life, my Rest,
Till summoned to the marriage-feast,
C. M. D.
HEARD the voice of Jesus say,
Weary, and worn, and sad;
2 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
The living water; thirsty one,
Stoop down, and drink, and live!"
Of that life-giving stream;
My thirst was quench'd, my soul revived.
3 1 heard the voice of Jesus say,
"I am this dark world's Light; Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise, And all thy day be bright!"
I looked to Jesus, and I found
JESUS, Thy blood and Righteousness
'Midst flaming worlds, in these array'd,
2 When from the dust of death I rise,
5 And when the dead shall hear Thy voice,
JESUS, Saviour of the lost,
2 Guilty, forgive me, Lord, I cry,
3 Once safe in Thine almighty arms,
4 And when I stand before Thy throne,
Still be my righteousness alone
H, for a heart to praise my God,
A heart that always feels Thy blood,
2 A heart resign'd, submissive, meek,
3 Oh, for a lowly, contrite heart,
Which neither life nor death can part
4 A heart in ev'ry thought renew'd,
Perfect, and right, and pure, and good,
5 Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart,
COME, Holy Spirit, come!
Let Thy bright beams arise;
2 Convince us all of sin,
Then lead to Jesus' blood,
3 Revive our drooping faith,
Our doubts and fears remove,
4 T is Thine to cleanse the heart,
To pour fresh life in ev'ry part,
5 Dwell, Spirit, in our hearts;
Our minds from bondage free;
CHRISTIAN LIFE AND EXPERIENCE.
RAYER was appointed to convey
And Christ receives, and gives it in.
3 And shall we in dead silence lie
When Christ stands waiting for our prayer? My soul, thou hast a friend on high; Arise, and try thine interest there.
4 If pains afflict, or wrongs oppress If cares distract, or fears dismay If guilt deject-if sin distress,
The remedy's before thee—pray. 5 'Tis prayer supports the soul that's weak; Though thought be broken-language lame, Pray, if thou canst, or canst not speak, But pray with faith in Jesus' name.
PRAYER is the soul's sincere desire,
The motion of a hidden fire
