2 Exert Thy gracious power divine,
And sprinkle Thou th' atoning blood;
May Father, Son, and Spirit join
To seal this child a child of God.

CONFIDING in Thy truth alone,

L. M.

Here, on the steps of Jesus' throne, We lay the treasure Thou hast given, To be received and rear'd for heaven. 2 Lent to us for a season, we Lend him forever, Lord, to Thee, Assured that if to Thee he live, We gain in what we seem to give. 3 Large and abundant blessings shed, Warm as these prayers, upon his head; And on his soul the dews of grace, Fresh as these drops upon his face. 4 Make him and keep him Thine own child, Meek follower of the Undefiled; Possessor here of grace and love, Inheritor of heaven above.

ACCORDING to Thy gracious word

This will I do, my dying Lord,
I will remember Thee.

2 Thy body, broken for my sake,
My bread from heaven shall be;
Thy testamental cup I take,
And thus remember Thee.

3 Gethsemane can I forget?
Or there Thy conflict see,
Thine agony and bloody sweat,
And not remember Thee?

4 When to the cross I turn mine eyes,
And rest on Calvary,

O Lamb of God, my Sacrifice!

I must remember Thee: —

5 Remember Thee and all Thy pains,
And all Thy love to me;

Yea, while a breath, a pulse remains,
Will I remember Thee.

6 And when these failing lips grow dumb, And mind and mem'ry flee,

When Thou shalt in Thy kingdom come,
Jesus, remember me.

262 (514).

"WAS on that dreadful, doleful night,
When the whole power of darkness rose

Against the Son of God's delight,
And friends betray'd Him to His foes;

2 Before the mournful scene began,

He took the bread, and bless'd, and brake; What love through all His actions ran! What wondrous words of grace He spake!

3 "This is my body, broke for sin;

Receive and eat the living food:

Then took the cup and bless'd the wine: "T is the new cov'nant in my blood."

4 "Do this," He cried, "till time shall end,
In mem'ry of your dying Friend;
Meet at my table, and record
The love of your departed Lord."

pangs of death endured,
might live forever blest.

2 Yes, we'll record Thy matchless grace,
Thou dearest, tend'rest, best of friends!
Thy dying love the noblest praise
Of long eternity transcends.

3 'Tis pleasure

more than earth can give,

Thy goodness through these veils to see: Thy table food celestial yields;

And happy they who sit with Thee. 4 But oh, what vast, transporting joys

Shall fill

When, join'd with yon celestial train,
Our grateful souls Thy love admire.

ERE at Thy table, Lord, we meet

Thy body is the bread we eat,
Thy precious blood the wine.

2 He that

prepares this rich repast,
Himself comes down and dies;
And then invites us thus to feast
Upon the sacrifice.

3 Sure, there was never love so free,
Dear Saviour, so divine!

Well Thou may'st claim that heart of me,
Which owes so much to Thine.

4 Yes, Thou shalt surely have my heart,
My soul, my strength, my all;
With life itself I'll freely part,
My Jesus, at Thy call.

JESUS, Master of the Feast,

itself Thou art:

Now receive Thy ev'ry guest,
And comfort every heart.
Give us living Bread to eat,

See us waiting at Thy feet,
And make Thy favor known.

2 In this earthly wilderness
Thou hast a table spread,
Richly fill'd with ev'ry grace
Our fainting souls can need:
Still sustain us by Thy love,
Still Thy servants' strength repair,
Till we reach Thy courts above,
And feast forever there.

ORD, when before Thy throne we meet,

L Thy goodness to adore,

From heaven, th' eternal mercy-seat,
On us Thy blessing pour,

And make our inmost souls to be
An habitation meet for Thee.

ESUS, Thou Joy of loving hearts!

L. M.

Thou Fount of Life, Thou Light of men!
From the best bliss that earth imparts
We turn unfill'd to Thee again.

2 Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood;
Thou savest those that on Thee call;
To them that seek Thee Thou art good,
To them that find Thee, All in All!
3 We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread,
And long to feast upon Thee still;
We drink of Thee, the Fountain Head,
And thirst our souls from Thee to fill.
4 Our restless spirits yearn for Thee,

Where'er our changeful lot is cast;
Glad, when Thy gracious smile we see,
Blest, when our faith can hold Thee fast.

5 O Jesus, ever with us stay!

Make all our moments calm and bright; Chase the dark night of sin away,

Shed o'er the world Thy holy light!
