3 For God, the Lord, enthroned in state,
Is with unrivalled glory great-
The King eternal over all
Whom by the title gods we call.

4 The depths of earth are in his hand-
Her secret wealth at his command;
The strength of hills that threat the skies
Subjected to his empire lies.

5 The rolling ocean's vast abyss
By the same sovereign right is his;
'Tis moved by his almighty hand,
That formed and fixed the solid land.

60 let us to his courts repair,
And bow in adoration there-
With joy and fear, devoutly, all
Before the Lord, our Maker, fall.

WATTS.

Public Worship. Ps. 95.

1 COME, sound his praise abroad,
And hymns of glory sing:
Jehovah is the sovereign God
The universal King.

2 He formed the deeps unknown;
He gave the seas their bound;
The watery worlds are all his own,
And all the solid ground.

3 Come, worship at his throne ;

Come, bow before the Lord.

We are his works, and not our own:
He formed us by his word.

4 To-day attend his voice,
Nor dare provoke his rod;
Come, like the people of his choice,
And own your gracious God.

ANONYMOUS.

Invocation.

1 COME, thou almighty King,
Help us thy name to sing-
Help us to praise.

Father all-glorious,

O'er all victorious,

Come and reign over us,
Ancient of days.

2 Come, thou eternal Lord,
By heaven and earth adored,
Our prayer attend.

Come, and thy people bless;
Give thy good word success;
Make thine own holiness
On us descend.

3 Be thou our comforter;
Thy sacred witness bear
In this glad hour.
Omnipotent thou art:
O, rule in every heart,
And ne'er from us depart,
Spirit of power!

4 O Holy One! to thee

Eternal praises be

Hence, evermore.
Thy sovereign majesty

May we in glory see,
And to eternity

Love and adore.

BOWRING.

Humble Worship.

1 WHEN before thy throne we kneel,
Filled with awe and holy fear,
Teach us, O our God, to feel
All thy sacred presence near.

2 Check each proud and wandering thought When on thy great name we call;

Man is nought-is less than nought:
Thou, our God, art all in all.

3 Weak, imperfect creatures, we
In this vale of darkness dwell;
Yet presume to look to thee
'Midst thy light ineffable.

4 0, receive the praise that dares
Seek thy heaven-exalted throne;
Bless our offerings, hear our prayers,
Infinite and Holy One!

Homage and Devotion.

1 WITH sacred joy we lift our eyes
To those bright realms above-
That glorious temple in the skies
Where dwells eternal love.

2 Before the awful throne we bow
Of heaven's almighty King;
Here we present the solemn vow,
And hymns of praise we sing.

3 Thee we adore, and, Lord, to thee
Our filial duty pay;

Thy service, unconstrained and free,
Čonducts to endless day.

4 While in thy house of prayer we kneel
With trust and holy fear,
Thy mercy and thy truth reveal,
And lend a gracious ear.

5 With fervor teach our hearts to pray,
And tune our lips to sing;

Nor from thy presence cast away
The sacrifice we bring.

Going to Church. Ps. 122.

1 0 'Twas a joyful sound to hear
Our tribes devoutly say,
'Up, Israel, to the temple haste,
And keep your festal day.'

2 At Salem's courts we must appear
With our assembled powers,

In strong and beauteous order ranged,
Like her united towers.

3 'Tis thither, by divine command,
The tribes of God repair,

Before his ark to celebrate

His name with praise and prayer.

4 O, ever pray for Salem's peace; For they shall prosperous be, Thou holy city of our God,

Who bear true love to thee.

5 May peace within thy sacred walls A constant guest be foundWith plenty and prosperity

Thy palaces be crowned.

6 For my dear brethren's sake, and friends No less than brethren dear,

I'll pray, 'May peace in Salem's towers
A constant guest appear.'

WATTS.

Going to Church. Ps. 122.

1 How did my heart rejoice to hear My friends devoutly say,

'In Žion let us all appear,

And keep the solemn day!'

2 I love her gates-I love the road;
The church, adorned with grace,
Stands like a palace built for God,
To show his milder face.

3 Up to her courts, with joys unknown,
The holy tribes repair:

The Son of David holds his throne,
And sits in judgment, there.

4 Peace be within this sacred place,
And joy a constant guest;
With holy gifts and heavenly grace
Be her attendants blest.
