AN ACT*

To accept of the grant and carry into execution the trust. conferred upon the State of Alabama by an act of Congress, entitled "An Act granting public lands in alterternate sections to the State of Alabama, to aid in the construction of certain Railroads in said State," approved 3rd June, 1856.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Alabama in General Assembly convened, That the lands, franchises, rights, powers and privileges granted to and conferred upon the State of Alabama Grant conferred. by an act of Congress, entitled "An Act granting public lands in alternate sections to the State of Alabama, to aid in the construction of certain Railroads in said State," approved June the third, eighteen hundred and fifty-six, be and the same are hereby accepted, with the restrictions and upon the terms and conditions contained in said act of Congress.

Selma and Gads

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That so much of the lands, rights, interests, franchises, powers and privileges as are or may be granted and conferred in pursuance of said act of Congress to aid in the construction of a railroad from Selma to Gadsden, called and designated in said act of Con- den. gress, "The Coosa and Alabama Railroad from Selma to Gadsden," are hereby disposed of, granted to, conferred upon and vested in the Alabama and Tennessee Rivers Railroad Company, a body corporate, created and in exis tence under the laws of the State of Alabama.

*This act is inserted here, having been omitted in the acts of 1857-'8.
