C. M. 1. WHEN forth from Egypt's trembling strand
The tribes of Israel sped,
Departing banners spread ;-
His kingly dwelling made,
Their guiding scepter swayed.
Rolled all its billows back;
Revealed their destined track.
And rolled thy waves in dread ?
And bare its deepest bed ?
Of Jacob, tremble still;
And speak some boundless thing-
Of our eternal King.
And sound His power abroad;
And the performing God.
The mighty promise shines;
Those everlasting lines.
4. His very word of grace
As that which built the skies;
Speaks all the promises.
But whisper, Thou art mine!
To notes almost divine.
10s & Ils. 1. O PRAISE ye the Lord! prepare your glad voice,
His praise in the great assembly to sing,
And heirs of salvation be glad in their King. 2. Let them His great name devoutly adore ;
In loud-swelling strains His praises express,
Their wants to relieve, and his children to bless. 3. With glory adorned, His people shall sing
To God, who defense and plenty supplies ;
In loftiest notes, now publish His praise : Wemortals, delighted, would borrow your tongue Would join in your numbers, and chant to your lays.
TATE, VARIED. 163.
10s & Ils.
And publish abroad his wonderful name;
His kingdom is glorious; He rules over all. 2. God ruleth on high, almighty to save;
And still He is nigh: His presence we have ;
3. “ Salvation to God, who sits on the throne,” ..
Let all cry aloud, and honor the Son ;
Fall down on their faces, and worship the Lamb. 4. Then let us adore, and give Him His right
All glory and power, and wisdom and might;
And thanks never ceasing, for infinite love, 164. 1. How dear is the thought, that the angels of God May bow their bright wings to the world they
once trod; Will leave the sweet songs of the mansions above,
To breathe o'er our bosoms some message of love! 2. They come, on the wings of the morning they come,
Impatient to lead some poor wanderer home;
And lay him to rest in the arms of his God. 3. They come when we wander, they come when we
Encircling us here are these 'angels of heaven. 165. .
Ils & 8s. 1. The Lord is great! ye hosts of heaven, adore him,
And ye who tread this earthly ball;
And shout His praise who made you all. 2. The Lord is great; His majesty how glorious !
Resound His praise from shore to shore;
He rules and reigns for evermore. 3. The Lord is great; His mercy how abounding !
Ye angels, strike your golden chords;
10s & Ils.
And gratefully sing His wonderful love
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise. 2. O tell of His might, and sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light, whose canopy, space;
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm. 3. Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite ?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light,
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain. 4. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend. 5. Father Almighty, how faithful Thy love!
While angels delight to hymn Thee above,
Doxology. Ils & 8s.
All praise to the Spirit, thrice blest,
Was, is, and shall be still addressed.
1. ANGELS! assist to sing
And sound His name abroad :
2. And ye of meaner birth!
Your joyful voices raise;
Your great Creator praise :
In solemn order, join
And speak His power divine :
every hill and every vale
The honors of our God;
And spread His praise abroad:
1. To your Creator, God,
Your great Preserver, raise,
Your highest notes of praise :
To celebrate His name,
Assist th' exalted theme:
Should nobler praises flow;
With warm devotion glow;
