4. Fear not, brethren, joyful stand
On the borders of your land;
Jesus Christ, your Father's Son,
Bids you undismayed go on.

5. Lord, submissive make us go,
Gladly leaving all below;
Only Thou our leader be,
And we still will follow Thee.

1. JESUS, Lord, we look to Thee;
Let us in Thy name agree;
Show thyself the Prince of Peace;
Bid our jars forever cease.

2. By Thy reconciling love,

Every stumbling-block remove:
Each to each unite, endear;

Come, and spread Thy banner here.

3. Make us of one heart and mind-
Courteous, pitiful, and kind;
Lowly, meek, in thought and word-
Altogether like our Lord.

4. Let us for each other care;

Each the other's burden bear;
To Thy Church the pattern give;
Show how true believers live.

5. Free from anger and from pride,
Let us thus in God abide;
All the depths of love express-
All the heights of holiness.

6. Let us then with joy remove
To the family above;
On the wings of angels fly;
Show how true believers die.

1. BRETHREN While we sojourn here,
Fight we must, but should not fear;
Foes we have, but we've a Friend,
One that loves us to the end.
Forward, then, with courage go,
Long we shall not dwell below;
Soon the joyful news will come,

66

Child, your Father calls-come home!"

2. In the way a thousand snares
Lie, to take us unawares;
Satan, with malicious art,
Watches each unguarded part:
But, from Satan's malice free,
Saints shall soon victorious be;
Soon the joyful news will come,
"Child, your Father calls-come home!"

3. But of all the foes we meet,
None so oft mislead our feet,
None betray us into sin

Like the foes that dwell within;
Yet let nothing spoil our peace,
Christ shall also conquer these;
Soon the joyful news will come,
Child, your Father calls-come home!"

1. WHEN, my Saviour, shall I be
Perfectly resigned to thee?
Poor and vile in my own eyes,
Only in Thy wisdom wise?

2. Only Thee content to know,
Ignorant of all below?

Only guided by Thy light?
Only mighty in Thy might?

724.

3. Fully in my life express
All the heights of holiness;
Sweetly let my spirit prove
All the depths of humble love.

1. FOR a season called to part,

C. WESLEY.

Let us now ourselves commend
To the gracious eye and heart
Of our ever-present Friend.
2. Jesus, hear our humble prayer;
Tender Shepherd of Thy sheep,
Let Thy mercy and Thy care
All our souls in safety keep.
3. In Thy strength may we be strong;
Sweeten every cross and pain;
Spare us, that we may, ere long,
Meet and worship Thee again.

1. How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in his excellent word;
What more can he say than to you he hath said—
Who unto the Saviour for refuge have fled.

2. Fear not, I am with thee, Oh! be not dismayed; For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid: I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,

Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.

3. When through the deep waters I call thee to go, The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;

For I will be with thee thy trials to bless, And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress. 4. When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, My grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply, The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine,

5. E'en down to old age all my people shall prove My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;

And then, when gray hairs shall their temples adorn,

Like lambs they shall still in My bosom be borne. 6. The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose, I will not-I will not desert to his foes:

That soul-though all hell should endeavor to shake,

I'll never-no never-no never forsake!

1. DAUGHTER of Zion! awake from thy sadness; Awake!-for thy foes shall oppress thee no

more;

Bright o'er thy hills dawns the day-star of glad

ness;

Arise!-for the night of thy sorrow is o'er.

2. Strong were thy foes; but the arm that subdued them,

And scattered their legions, was mightier far; They fled, like the chaff, from the scourge that pursued them;

Vain were their steeds and their chariots of war! 3. Daughter of Zion! the Power that hath saved thee, Extolled with the harp and the timbrel should

be:

Shout! for the foe is destroyed that enslaved thee,

Th' oppressor is vanquished, and Zion is free.

1. AND are we yet alive,

And see each other's face?

Glory and praise to Jesus give,

For His redeeming grace.

728.

2. What troubles have we seen !
What conflicts have we past!
Fightings without, and fears within,
Since we assembled last!

3. But out of all, the Lord

Hath brought us by His love;
And still He doth His help afford,
And hides our life above.

4. Then let us make our boast
Of His redeeming power,
Which saves us to the uttermost,
Till we can sin no more.

5. Let us take up the cross,

Till we the crown obtain;

And gladly reckon all things loss,
So we may Jesus gain.

1. To keep the lamp alive,

With oil we fill the bowl;

C. WESLEY.

'Tis water makes the willow thrive,
And grace that feeds the soul.

2. The Lord's unsparing hand
Supplies the living stream;
It is not at our own command,
But still derived from Him.

3. Man's wisdom is to seek

His strength in God alone;
And e'en an angel would be weak,
Who trusted in his own.

4. Retreat beneath His wings,

And in His grace confide;

This more exalts the King of kings

Than all your works beside.
