2. Contented now, upon my thigh

I halt, till life's short journey end;
All helplessness, all weakness, I

On Thee alone for strength depend :
Nor have I power from Thee to move :

Thy nature and Thy name is Love. 3. Lame as I am, I take the prey ;

Hell, earth, and sin, with ease o'ercome;
I leap for joy, pursue my way,

And, as a bounding hart, fly home,
Through all eternity to prove
Thy nature and Thy name is Love.

L. M. 6 lines.
1. JESUS, Thy boundless love to me

No thought can reach, no tongue declare;
O knit my thankful heart to Thee,

And reign without a rival there:
Thine wholly, Thine alone, I am;

Be Thou alone my constant flame. 2. O grant that nothing in my soul

May dwell, but Thy pure love alone: 0

may Thy love possess me whole

My joy, my treasure, and my crown:
Strange flames far from

My every act, word, thought, be love.
3. Unwearied may I this pursue ;

Dauntless to the high prize aspire;
Hourly within my soul renew

This holy flame, this heavenly fire:
And day and night, be all my care

To guard the sacred treasure there. 4. In suff'ring be Thy love my peace;

In weakness be Thy love my power;
And when the storms of life shall cease,

Jesus, in that important hour,
In death, as life, be Thou my Guide,
And save me, who for me hast died.

For me upon

L. M. 6 lines.
1. My Saviour, Thou Thy love to me,
In want, in pain, in shame, hast shown,

the accursed tree,
Didst by Thy precious death atone;
Thy death upon my heart impress,

That nothing may it thence erase. 2. O'that I, like a little child,

May follow Thee; nor ever rest
Till sweetly Thou has poured Thy mild

And lowly mind into my breast.

I now and ever be
One spirit, dearest Lord, with Thee !
3. What in Thy love possess I not?

My Star by night, my Sun by day,
My spring of life when parched with drought,

My wine to cheer, my bread to stay ;
My strength, my shield, my safe abode,

My robe before the throne of God. 4. From all eternity with love

Unchangeable thou hast me viewed;
Ere knew this beating heart to move,

Thy tender mercies me pursued.
Ever with me may they abide,
And close me in on every side.

L. N. 6 lines.
1. Now I have found the ground wherein

Sure my soul's anchor may remain;
The wounds of Jesus, for my sin,

Before the world's foundation slain ;

mercy shall unshaken stay, When heaven and earth are fled away. 2. O Love, thou bottomless abyss!

My sins are swallowed up in Thee;
Covered is my unrighteousness,

From condemnation now I'm free;
While Jesus' blood through earth and skies,
Mercy, free, boundless mercy ! cries.

3. With faith I plunge me in this sea,

Here is my hope, my joy, my rest;
Hither, when hell assails, I flee,

I look into my Saviour's breast.
Away, sad doubt, and anxious fear!

Mercy is all that's written here. 4. Tho' waves and storms go o'er

my head,
Tho' strength, and health, and friends be gone;
Tho' joys be withered all, and dead;

Tho' every comfort be withdrawn-
Steadfast on this my soul relies:
Father, Thy mercy never dies.

L. M. 6 lines.
1. Thou hidden Source of calm repose,

Thou all-sufficient Love divine,
My help and refuge from my foes,

Secure I am while Thou art mine:
And lo! from sin, and grief, and shame,

I hide me, Jesus, in Thy name.
2. Jesus, my all in all Thou art;

My rest in toil, my ease in pain;
The med’cine of my broken heart;

In war, my peace; in loss, my gain;
My smile beneath the tyrant's frown;

In shame, my glory and my crown.
3. In want, my plentiful supply;

In weakness, my almighty power;
In bonds, my perfect liberty ;

My light in Satan's darkest hour;
In grief, my joy unspeakable;
My life in death, my all in all.

L. N.
1. AWAKE, my soul, in joyful lays,

And sing thy great Redeemer's praise,
He justly claims a song from me,
His loving kindness, O how free!

2. When trouble, like a gloomy cloud,

Has gather'd thick and thunder'd loud,
He near my soul has always stood,

His loving-kindness, O how good!
3. Often I feel my sinful heart

Prone from my Jesus to depart;
But though I have him oft forgot,

His loving-kindness changes not.
4. Soon shall I pass the gloomy vale,

Soon all my mortal powers must fail;
O may my last expiring breath

His loving-kindness sing in death.
5. Then let me mount and soar away

To the bright world of endless day;
And sing, with rapture and surprise,
His loving-kindness in the skies.

[blocks in formation]

1. LORD, I will bless Thee all my days;

Thy praise shall dwell upon my tongue;
My soul shall glory in Thy grace,

While saints rejoice to hear the song.
2. Come, magnify the Lord with me;

heart exalt His name; I sought the eternal God, and He

Has not exposed my hope to shame. 3. I told Him all my silent grief,

My secret groaning reached His ears;
He gave my inward pains relief,

And calmed the tumult of my fears. 4. His holy angels pitch their tents

Around the men who serve the Lord;
Oh, fear and love Him all His saints,
Accept His

and trust His word.

L. M.
1. JESUS, my all, to heaven is gone,

He whom I fix my hopes upon;
His track I see, and I'll pursue

The narrow way till Him I view.
2. The way the holy prophets went,

The way that leads from banishment;
The King's highway of holiness,

I'll go, for all His paths are peace.
3. This is the way I long had sought,

And mourned because I found it not;
My grief a burden long had been,

Oppressed with unbelief and sin.
4. The more I strove against their power,

I sinned and stumbled but the more;
Till late I heard my Saviour

“Come hither, soul, I am the way.”
5. Lo! glad I come, and Thou, blest Lamb,

Shalt take me to Thee, as I am:
Nothing but sin I Thee can give;

Nothing but love shall I receive.
6. Then will I tell to sinners round,

What a dear Saviour I have found;
I'll point to Thy redeeming blood,

say, “Behold the way to God.”

L. M.

1. Hail, sov’reign love, that form’d the plan

To save rebellious, ruin'd man.
Hail, matchless, free, eternal grace,

That gave my soul a hiding place.
2. Against the God that rules the sky

I fought, with weapons lifted high,
I madly ran the sinful race,
Regardless of a hiding place.
