SEQUEL

TO THE

GRAMMAR OF SACRED HISTORY.

EXPLANATION OF THE FRONTISPIECE.

THE LAW resting upon, and partially obscured by dark clouds, that become clearer as they approach the light proceeding from the GOSPEL SYMBOLS, typically describes the obscurity of the Mosaic dispensation, which received its illus. tration from the light of the Gospel.

On the left is a column, inscribed with the names of the four great Prophets; another on the right, bears the names of the four Evangelists; the Sacred Historians, who related the events, and recorded the fulfilment of the prophecies, delivered by the former so many hundred years before.
