2 We are but young,- we need a guide; 1 O GOD, I thank thee that the night

Jesus, in thee we would confide;
Oh, lead us in the path of truth,
Protect and bless our helpless youth.

3 We are but young,-yet God has shed 2
Unnumbered blessings on our head;
Then let our youth in riper days
Be all devoted to his praise.

A Child's Hymn for Christmas. 1 THOU holy Jesus, kind and dear, Who for us children camest here, That blest and purified by thee, God's little children we might be. 2 God sent thee down, a light divine, Through all this darkened world to shine, A heavenly child, a heavenly ray, To guide us all the heavenly way. 30 holy Jesus, kind and dear,

Because thy birthday now is near,
For every child, in every clime,
It is a happy, joyful time.

4 Then bless me too, and from thy throne,
Look down, Lord, on thy little one;
Make thou my heart all pure and white,
In heavenly fountains clear and bright.

In peace and rest hath passed away, And that I see, in this fair light, My Father's smile, that makes it day. Be thou my guide, and let me live As under thine all-seeing eye; Supply my wants, my sins forgive, And make me happy when I die.

Family Worship. 1 FATHER of men! thy care we bless, Which crowns our families with peace, From thee they sprung, and by thy hand Their root and branches are sustained. 2 To God, most worthy to be praised, Be our domestic altars raised, Who, Lord of heaven, scorns not to dwell With saints in their obscurest cell. 3 To thee may each united house, Morning and night, present its vows; Our servants here and rising race Be taught thy precepts and thy grace. Oh, may each future age proclaim The honors of thy glorious name; While, pleased and thankful, we remove To join the family above.

1 THERE'LL be something in heaven for] children to do:

None are idle in that blessed land;
There'll be loves for the heart, there'll

be thoughts for the mind,
And employment for each little hand. 3
CHORUS―There'll be something to do;
There'll be something to do;

There'll be something for children to do;
On the bright shining shore,
Where there's joy evermore,

There'll be errands of love from the mansions above,

To the dear ones that linger below; And it may be our Father the children will send

To be angels of mercy in woe.

There'll be something for children to do. CHORUS-There'll be something to do;

There'll be something to do;

1 MAY the grace of Christ, our Saviour, 1 Go in peace!-serene dismission,
And the Father's boundless love,
With the holy Spirit's favor,
Rest upon us from above!

1 ISRAEL'S Shepherd, guide us, feed us,
Through our pilgrimage below,
And beside the waters lead us,
Where thy flock rejoicing go.

2 Lord, thy guardian presence ever,
Meekly kneeling, we implore;

To the loving heart made known;
When it pours, in deep contrition,
Prayer before the eternal throne.

2 Go in peace! thy sins forgiven,
Christ has healed thee, set thee free;
Every spirit-fetter riven,
Go in peace, and liberty!

3 Saviour! breathe this benediction
O'er our spirits while we pray;
Let us part in sweet conviction
Thou hast blessed our souls to-day.

We have found thee, and would never, 1 PART in peace! is day before us?

952

Never wander from thee more.

1 Lo! the day of rest declineth,
Gather fast the shades of night;
Yet the sun that ever shineth
Fills our souls with heavenly light.
2 While, thine ear of love addressing,
Thus our parting hymn we sing,
Father, with thine evening blessing
Rest we safe beneath thy wing.

Praise his name for life and light;
Are the shadows lengthening o'er us?
Bless his care who guards the night.
2 Part in peace! with deep thanksgiving,
Rendering, as we homeward tread,
Gracious service to the living,
Tranquil memory to the dead.

3 Part in peace! such are the praises,
God, our Maker, loveth best;
Such the worship that upraises
Human hearts to heavenly rest.
