THANKSGIVINGS.

Let us praise the name of the Lord.
And offer unto our God thanksgiving.
Unto thee do we give thanks, O Lord.
Yea, unto thee, O God, do we give thanks.

WORTHY is the Lamb that was slain to re

ceive power, riches, wisdom and strength, and honour, and glory, for he was slain and hath redeemed us to God by his blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation. Glory be to thee, O God. Amen.

Praised be the Lord daily.

Even the God who helpeth us.

And poureth his benefits upon us. Amen.
Concluding Prayer.

LORD, we beseech thee favourably to hear the prayers of thy people; that we, who are justly punished for our offences, may be mercifully delivered by thy goodness, for the glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Benedictory Prayer.

'HE Lord make his face to shine upon us, and

THE

be gracious unto us. The Lord lift up his countenance upon us, and give us peace, both now and evermore. Amen.

Evening Prayer.

At the beginning of Evening Prayer, the Master may read the following Sentences, unless there are any proper for the Day.

Lord;

ENTER not into judgment with thy servant, O for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. (Ps. cxliii. 2.)

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us: but, if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John i. 8, 9.)

HE did humble himself, even to the death upon

the Cross, for us, miserable sinners, who lay in darkness and the shadow of death; that he might make us the children of God, and exalt us to everlasting life.

¶Then the General Confession, to be said by the whole family, kneeling.

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father; We

have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done ; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesu our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live

a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

THE

For Pardon.

HE gracious Lord have mercy upon us, pardon and deliver us from all our sins; confirm and strengthen us in all goodness, and bring us to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Ο

Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Then the Lord's Prayer, to be said by all.

UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this

day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. Amen.

Then may be said,

Be not far from us, O Lord,

Thou art our succour, haste thee to help us. Then all standing, a Psalm", as in Divine Service.

Or if

no Psalm is said, the Doxology may follow here. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be; world without end. Amen.

After which, a Lesson, and then the following Canticle, or else a Hymn, may be said or sung.

GOD

OD be merciful unto us, and bless us and shew us the light of his countenance, and be merciful unto us:

m Psalms proper for the Evening, iv. xxxi. xci. cxxxiv. cxxxix.

That thy way may be known upon earth: thy saving health among all nations.

Let the people praise thee, O God: yea, let all the people praise thee.

O let the nations rejoice and be glad for thou shalt judge the folk righteously, and govern the nations upon earth.

Let the people praise thee, O God: yea, let all the people praise thee.

Then shall the earth bring forth her increase : and God, even our own God, shall give us his blessing. (Ps. lxvii.)

Glory be, &c.

As it was, &c.

Then all kneeling, the following Prayers; the
Master first saying,

The Lord be with you;

And with thy spirit.

Let us pray.

Spare us, good Lord, spare thy people, Whom thou hast redeemed with thy most precious blood.

O teach us to number our days,

That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Into thine hands we commend our spirits,

For thou hast redeemed us, O Lord, thou God of truth.

Then the Collect for the Day, after which the Collects following.

LIGHTEN our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of thy only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

For Grace.

LORD, we pray thee that thy grace may always prevent and follow us, and make us continually to be given to all good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For the Clergy and People.

ALMIGHTY God, who by thy Son Jesus Christ didst give to thine holy Apostle many excellent gifts, and commandedst him earnestly to feed thy flock; Make, we beseech thee, all Bishops and Pastors diligently to preach thy holy Word, and the people obediently to follow the same, that they may receive the crown of everlasting glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For the Queen.

LORD our heavenly Father, high and mighty, King of kings, Lord of lords, the only Ruler of princes, who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers upon earth; Most heartily we beseech thee with thy favour to behold our most gracious Sovereign Lady, Queen Victoria; and so replenish her with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that she may alway incline to thy will, and walk in thy way: Endue her plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant her in health and wealth long to live ; strengthen her that she may vanquish and overcome all her enemies; and finally, after this life, she may attain everlasting joy and felicity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Prayer.

ALMIGHTY God, who by the Passion of our

Lord Jesus Christ thy Son, and by his bitter and
