the seas ;

3 Let those refuse to sing,

That never knew our God;
But fav’rites of the heav'nly King,

May speak their joys abroad. 4 The God that rules on high,

And thunders when he please, That rides upon the stormy sky, And

manages
5 This awful God is ours,

Our Father and our love,
He shall send down his heav'nly powers,

To carry us above.
6 · There we shall see bis face,

And never, never sin ;
There, from the rivers of his grace,

Drink endless pleasures in. 7 Yes, and before we rise

To that immortal state,
The thoughts of such amazing bliss,

Should constant joys create.
The men of grace have found,

Glory begun below;
Celestial fruits on earthly ground,

From faith and hope may grow. 9 The hill of Sion yields

A thousand sacred sweets,
Before we reach the heav'nly fields,

Or walk the golden streets. 10 Then let our songs abound,

And every tear be dry; We're marching through Immanuel's ground, To fairer worlds on high.

579. Spiritual and Eternul Joys. (C. M.)
1 FROM thee, my God, my joys shall rise,

And run eternal rounds;
Beyond the limits of the skies,

And all created bounds.
2 The holy triumphs of my soul

Shall death itself outbrave;
Leave dull mortality behind,

And fly beyond the grave.
3 There, where my blessed Jesus reigns,

In heaven's unmeasur'd space;
I'll spend a long eternity,

In pleasure and in praise.
4 Millions of years my wond'ring eyes,

Shall o'er thy beauties rove;
And endless ages I'll adore,

The glories of thy love.
5 Sweet Jesus, every smile of thine,

Shall fresh endearments bring;
And thousand tastes of new delight,

From all thy graces spring.
6 Haste, my beloved, fetch my soul,

Up to thy blest abode;
Fly, for my spirit longs to see

My Saviour and my God.

580. Christ's Commission. (S. M.)
1 ,

AISE your triumphant songs,

an Let the wide earth resound the deeds Celestial

grace

has done.

2 Sing how eternal Love,

Its chief Beloved chose,
And bid him raise our wretched race,

From their abyss of woes.
3 His hand no thander bears,

Nor terror clothes his brow;
No bolts to drive our guilty souls,

To fiercer flames below.
4 'Twas mercy fill’d the throne,

And wrath stood silent by,
When Christ was sent with pardons down,

To rebels doom'd to die.
5 Now, sinners, dry your tears,

Let hopeless sorrows cease ;
Bow to the sceptre of his love,
And take the offer'd peace.

. 6 Lord, we obey thy call ;

We lay an humble claim
To the salvation thou hast brought,

And love and praise thy name. 81. Joyful Expectation. John xiv. 7. (P. M.) 1 HILDREN of the heavenly King,

As ye journey, sweetly sing;
Sing your Saviour's worthy praise,

Glorious in his works and ways. 2 Ye are travelling home to God,

In the way the fathers trod ;
They are happy now, and ye,

Soon their happiness shall see.
30 ye banish'd seed, be glad;
3 Christ our advocate is made ;

Us to save, our flesh assumes,
Brother to our souls becomes.

4 Shout, ye little flock, and blest,

You on Jesu's throne shall rest;
There your seat is now prepar'd,

There your kingdom and reward. 5 Fear not, brethren, joyful stand

On the borders of your land;
Jesus Christ, your Father's Son,

Bids you undismay'd go on.
6 Lord ! submissive make us go,

Gladly leaving all below;
Only thou our leader be,
And we still will follow thee.

582. The Triumph of Faith. Isaiah xlix. 16.

(P. M.)
DEBTOR to mercy alone,

Of covenant mercy I sing;
Nor fear, with thy righteousness on,
My person and offerings to bring :
The terrors of law, and of God,
With me can have nothing to do;
My Saviour's obedience and blood,

Hide all my transgressions from view. 2 The work, which his goodness began,

The arm of his strength will complete;
His promise is Yea and Amen,
And never was forfeited yet:
Things future, nor things that are now,
Not all things below, nor above,
Can make him bis purpose forego,
Or sever my soul from his love.

3 My name from the palms of his hands

Eternity will not erase ;
Impress'd on his heart it remains,
In marks of indelible grace:
Yes, I to the end shall endure,
As sure as the earnest is given ;
More happy, but not more secure,

The glorified spirits in heaven. 83. Hope in the Covenant; or, God's Promise and Truth unchangeable. Heb. vi. 17---19. (L. M.)

OW oft have sin and Satan strove,

To rend my soul from thee, my God! But everlasting is thy love,

And Jesus seals it with his blood.
2 The oath and promise of the Lord,

Join to confirm the wond'rous grace
Eternal power performs the word,

And fills all heav'n with endless praise. :: 3 Amidst temptations sharp and long,

My soul to this dear refuge flies;
Hope is my anchor firm and strong,

While tempests blow and billows rise. 4 The gospel bears my spirits up;

A faithful and unchanging God
Lays the foundation for my hope,

In oaths, and promises, and blood. 84. Rejoicing in the Name of Jesus. (C. M.) 1 FOR a thousand tongues, to sing

My dear Redeemer's praise !
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of his grace.
