5 Blest are the men whose hearts are set
To find the way to Zion's gate;
They lean upon their helper, God.
Till all shall meet in heav'n at length;
2. God and his Church; or, Grace and Glory. (L. M.)
REAT God, attend, while Sion sings,
The joy that from thy presence springs; To spend one day with thee on earth,
Exceeds a thousand days of mirth. 2 Might I enjoy the meanest place
Within thine house, O God of grace,
Should tempt my feet to leave thy door. 3 God is our sun, he makes our day:
God is our shield, he guards our way,
From foes without, and foes within. 4 All needful grace will God bestow,
And crown that grace with glory too;
No real good from upright souls.
The glorious hosts of heav'n obey;
| 3. Delight in Ordinances of Worship; or, God pre
sent in his Churches. (C. M.)
To which thy God resorts !
Tho' in his earthly courts.
His saving pow'r displays,
With kind and quick’ning rays.
Descends and fills the place;
And sheds abroad his grace.
The secrets of thy will;
While far from thine abode :
My Saviour and my God?
To dwell but where I love.
And hear thy gracious voice,
Employ'd in carnal joys.
8 Lord, at thy threshold I would wait,
While Jesus is within ;
Or live in tents of sin.
And the more boundless sea,
I'd give them both away. 4. Longing for the House of God. (P. M.) I LORD of the worlds above,
How pleasant and how fair
To thine abode
To see my God.
With pleasure seeks a nest;
My spirit faints
Among thy saints.
Where God appoints to hear !
They praise thee still ;
4 They go from strength to strength,
O glorious seat,
Where God and saints abide,
Where God resorts,
Than shine in courts. 6 God is our sun and shield,
Our light and our defence;
He shall bestow
And glory too.
His hand no good withholds
Thriçe happy he,
5. An Invitation to Worship. (C. M.)
ING to the Lord Jehovah's name,
And in his strength rejoice;
Exalted be our voice. 2 With thanks approach his awful sight,
And psalms of honour sing ;
The whole creation's King !
How mean their natures seem ;
When once compar'd with him. 4 Earth, with its caverns dark and deep,
Lies in his spacious hand;
And where the hills must stand.
Come, kneel before his face ;
Be children of his grace!
our Almighty Maker God,
New honours be addrest ;
And makes the nations blest.
His truth fulfils the grace;
And learn his righteousness.
