his warrant on the general fund of this state in favor of said board for the said sum of $162.00 in payment of said assessments levied as aforesaid upon said threequarters of said section thirty-six (36), township eighteen (18), in range eight (8), in said Dodge county, and the said sum of $162.00 is for that purpose hereby appropriated out of any funds in the general fund of the treasury of this state not otherwise appropriated.

SEC. 2. Whereas, an emergency exists, therefore be it enacted that this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER XXXI.

Boundaries.

To take effect.

AN ACT to define the boundaries of Brown county.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska:

SECTION 1. That all of that portion of the state of Nebraska, commencing at the southeast corner of township twenty-five (25) north, of range seventeen (17) west of the 6th principal meridian; thence west to the southwest corner of township twenty-five (25) range (24), twenty-four; thence north to the northern boundary of the state; thence east to the range line between ranges sixteen (16) and seventeen (17), thence south to the place of beginning, be and the same shall constitute the county of Brown.

SEC. 2. Whereas, there being an emergency therefor, this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER XXXII.

AN ACT to define the boundaries of Cherry county.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska:

SECTION 1. That all that portion of the state of Ne-Boundaries. braska commencing at the southeast corner of township twenty-five (25) north, of range twenty-five (25) west of the 6th principal meridian; thence west to the south-west corner of township twenty-five (25) north, of range forty (40); thence north on the east line of Sioux county to the northern boundary line of the state of Nebraska; thence east along said boundary line to the range line between ranges twenty-four (24) and twenty-five (25); thence south on said range line to the point of beginning; be and the same shall constitute the county of Cherry.

SEC. 2. Whereas, an emergency exists therefor, this To take effect act shall take effect and be in force from and after its

passage.

CHAPTER XXXIII.

AN ACT to amend section 35 of chapter 17 of the Compiled Statutes of 1881, entitled "An act defining the boundaries of certain counties."

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska :

SECTION 1. That section 35 of chapter 17 of the Boundaries. compiled laws of 1881, entitled "An act defining the

boundaries of certain counties," be amended to read as follows: The county of Holt is bounded as follows: Commencing at the southwest corner of township twenty-five north, of range sixteen west; thence east to the southeast corner of township twenty-five north, of range nine west; thence north to the middle of the main channel of the Missouri river; thence up said channel so far as it constitutes the boundary line of this state; thence west on said state line to the range line between ranges sixteen and seventeen; thence south on said range line to the point of beginning. Provided, This section shall not take effect until a majority of the legal voters of Holt county give their assent to such boundary change at the next general election in the manner provided by section 9 of chapter 18 of the Compiled Statutes of 1881, entitled "An act concerning counties and county officers," attaching "unorganized territory, not exceeding two townships," except that it shall be the duty of the county board to call said election without any petition having been presented to the county commissioners thereof.

SEC. 2. Said section 35, of which this act is amendatory, and all acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act, are hereby repealed. Provided, This section shall not take effect until this act shall have been ratified by a majority of the legal voters of Holt county as above provided.

CHAPTER XXXIV.

AN ACT to amend section 39 of chapter 17 of the Compiled Statutes.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska:

SECTION 1. That section 39 of chapter 17 of the Compiled Statutes be amended to read as follows:

SEC. 39. The county of Knox is bounded as fol- Boundaries. lows: Commencing at the southwest corner of township twenty-nine north, of range eight west; thence east to the southeast corner of township twenty-nine north, of range two west; thence north to the middle of the main channel of the Missouri river; thence along the middle of the main channel of said river to the point where the dividing line between ranges cight and nine west intersects the same; thence south to the place of beginning. Provided, That this act shall not take effect until the President of the United States shall, by proclamation declare the Indian title to the unorganized territory transferred to Knox county by this act extinguished, and until a majority of the legal voters of Knox county give their assent to the transfer of said unorganized territory in the manner provided by law.

SEC. 2. That section 39 of chapter 17 of the Com- Comp. piled Statutes be and is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER XXXV.

Boundaries.

To take effect.

AN ACT to define the boundaries of Loup county.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska :

SECTION 1. All that portion of the state of Nebraska bounded as follows: Commencing at the northeast corner of township twenty-four north, of range seventeen west; thence west to the northwest corner of township twenty-four north, of range twenty west; thence south to the southwest corner of township twenty-one north, of range twenty west; thence east to the southeast corner of township twenty-one north, of range seventeen west; thence north to the place of beginning, be and the same shall hereby constitute the county of Loup.

SEC. 2. Whereas, there is an existing emergency for the immediate passage of this bill, therefore it shall take effect immediately upon its passage. Approved February 23d, A.D. 1883.

CHAPTER XXXVI.

Electors to vote.

AN ACT to provide for township organization, to define the rights, powers, and liabilities of towns, and the duties, powers, and compensation of the officers thereof.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Nebraska:
