MARK XIII. 32-37.—xιν. 15.

VER. 32.

Περὶ δὲ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης καὶ τῆς ὥρας, οὐδεὶς οἶδεν, οὐδὲ οἱ ἄγγελλοι οἱ ἐν οὐρανῷ, οὐδὲ ὁ υἱὸς, εἰ μὴ ὁ πατήρ.

But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. VER. 33.

· Βλέπετε, ἀγρυπνεῖτε καὶ προσεύχεσθε· οὐκ οἴδατε γὰρ πότε ὁ καιρός ἐστιν.

• Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

VER. 34.

̔Ως ἄνθρωπος ἀπόδημος ἀφεὶς τὴν οἰκίαν αὑτοῦ, καὶ δοὺς τοῖς δούλοις αὑτοῦ τὴν ἐξουσίαν, καὶ ἑκάστῳ τὸ ἔργον αὑτοῦ, καὶ τῷ θυρωρῷ ἐνετείλατο ἵνα γρηγορῇ·

a For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, band to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

a For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who calleth his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods, Matt. xxv. 14. He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come, Luke

VER. 35.

Γρηγορεῖτε οὖν οὐκ οἴδατε γὰρ πότε ὁ κύριος τῆς οἰκίας ἔρχεται, ὀψὲ, ἢ μεσονυκτίου, ἢ ἀλεκτοροφωνίας, ἢ πρωΐ·)

a Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

VER. 36.

Μὴ ἐλθὼν ἐξαίφνης, εὕρῃ ὑμᾶς καθεύδοντας.

CHAP. XIV.-VER. 1. Ἦν δὲ τὸ πάσχα καὶ τὰ ἄζυμα μετὰ δύο ἡμέρας· καὶ ἐζήτουν οἱ ̓Αρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ Γραμματεῖς, πῶς αὐτὸν ἐν δόλῳ κρατή σαντες ἀποκτείνωσιν.

a After two days was the feast of the Passover, and of unleavened bread : and the Chief Priests and the Scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.

Ὁ μὲν υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὑπάγει, καθὼς γέγραπται περὶ αὐτοῦ· οὐαὶ δὲ τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ δι ̓ οὗ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται· καλὸν ἦν αὐτῷ, εἰ οὐκ ἐγεννήθη ὁ ἄνθρω πος ἐκεῖνος.

The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

Καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ὅτι πάντες σκανδαλισθήσεσθε ἐν ἐμοὶ ἐν τῇ νυκτὶ ταύτῃ· ὅτι γέγραπται· Πατάξω τὸν ποιμένα, καὶ διασκορπισθήσεται τὰ πρόβατα.

And Jesus saith unto them, All ye

shall be offended because of me this night : for it is written, I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

VER. 28.

̓Αλλὰ μετὰ τὸ ἐγερθῆναί με, προάξω ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν.

But after that I am risen, 1 will go before you into Galilee.

VER. 29.

Ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ἔφη αὐτῷ· Καὶ εἰ πάντες σκανδαλισθήσονται, ἀλλ ̓ οὐκ ἐγώ.

But Peter said unto him, Although all

ἄρτον, εὐλογήσας ἔκλασε, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐ- | shall be offended, yet will not I.
τοῖς, καὶ εἶπε· Λάβετε, φάγετε· τοῦτο
ἐστι τὸ σῶμά μου.

a And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eut; this is my body.

VER. 30.

Καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· ̓Αμὴν λέγω σοι, ὅτι σήμερον ἐν τῇ νυκτὶ ταύτῃ, πρὶν ἢ δὶς ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι, τρὶς ἀπαρνήση με.

And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

a And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to

̓Αμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὅτι οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ πίω | his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall ἐκ τοῦ γεννήματος τῆς ἀμπέλου, ἕως τῆς | ἡμέρας ἐκείνης, ὅταν αὐτὸ πίνω καινὸν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ Θεοῦ.

VER. 39.

A. D. 33. And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest : it is enough, the hour is come : behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

VER. 42. Εγείρεσθε, ἄγωμεν· ἰδοὺ, ὁ παραδιδούς με ἤγγικε. Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

Καὶ εὐθέως, ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος, παραγίνεται Ἰούδας, εἷς ἂν τῶν δώδεκα, καὶ μετ ̓ αὐτοῦ ὄχλος πολὺς μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων, παρὰ τῶν ̓Αρχιερέων, καὶ τῶν Γραμματέων, καὶ τῶν Πρεσβυτέρων.

a And immediately, while he yet spake, ́ cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the Chief Priests and the Scribes and the elders.

VER. 44.

Δεδώκει δὲ ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν σύσση μον αὐτοῖς, λέγων· ὃν ἂν φιλήσω, αὐτός ἐστι· κρατήσατε αὐτὸν, καὶ ἀπαγάγετε ἀσφαλῶς.

And he that betrayed him had given lead him away safely. them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he : take him, and

Καὶ ἐλθὼν, εὐθέως προσελθὼν αὐτῷ, λέγει· Ραββί, Ραββί· καὶ κατεφίλησεν αὐτόν.

And as soon as he was come, he goeth Καὶ πάλιν ἀπελθὼν προσηύξατο, τὸν straightway to him, and saith, Master, αὐτὸν λόγον εἰπών. master; and kissed him.

And again he went away and prayed, and spake the same words.

VER. 40.

Καὶ ὑποστρέψας εὗρεν αὐτοὺς πάλιν και θεύδοντας· ἦσαν γὰρ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτῶν βεβαρημένοι· καὶ οὐκ ᾔδεισαν τί αὐτῷ ἀποκριθῶσι.

And when he returned, he found them asleep again : for their eyes were heavy: neither wist they what to answer him.

VER. 41.

Καὶ ἔρχεται τὸ τρίτον, καὶ λέγει αὐτ τοῖς· Καθεύδετε τὸ λοιπὸν καὶ ἀναπαύεσθε· ἀπέχει· ἦλθεν ἡ ὥρα· ἰδοὺ, παραδίδοται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν.

Καί τινες ἀναστάντες, ἐψευδομαρτύρουν

I was daily with you in the temple | κατ' αὐτοῦ, λέγοντες· teaching, and ye took me not: but the Scriptures must be fulfilled.

VER. 50.

Καὶ ἀφέντες αὐτὸν πάντες ἔφυγον. And they all forsook him, and fled.

VER. 51.

* Καὶ εἷς τις νεανίσκος ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ, περιβεβλημένος σινδόνα ἐπὶ γυμνοῦ· καὶ κρατοῦσιν αὐτὸν οἱ νεανίσκοι.

And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him;

VER. 52.

Ὁ δὲ καταλιπὼν τὴν σινδόνα, γυμνὸς ἔφυγεν ἀπ' αὐτῶν.

And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

VER. 53.

Καὶ ἀπήγαγον τὸν Ἰησοῦν πρὸς τὸν ̓Αρχιερέα· καὶ συνέρχονται αὐτῷ πάντες οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς, καὶ οἱ Πρεσβύτεροι, καὶ οἱ Γραμματεῖς.

a And they led Jesus away to the High Priest: and with him were assembled all

And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

VER. 61.

Ὁ δὲ ἐσιώπα, καὶ οὐδὲν ἀπεκρίνατο. the Chief Priests and the elders and the λέγει αὐτῷ· Σὺ εἶ ὁ Χριστὸς, ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ Πάλιν ὁ ̓Αρχιερεὺς ἐπηρώτα αὐτὸν, καὶ
