The right hon. Arthur Chichester, marquis of Donegal. He was born on the 13th of June, 1730, and fuc

ceeded his uncle in the title and eftates in 1756. In 1761, he married a daughter of the duke of Hamilton, by whom he had iffue four daughters and three fons, all of whom died young, except lord Belfaft, born in 1769, and his brother Spencer. Lady Donegal dying in 1780, his lordship married in 1788, Mrs. Moore, who died a year afterwards without iffue. The marquis next married a Mifs Godfrey, a daughter to the late Dr. Godfrey, a clergyman of the county of Kerry in Ireland.

After a fhort illnefs, of an eryfipelas in his fide, which turned to a mortification, the moft noble Francis Godolphin Ofborne, fifth duke of Leeds, marquis of Carmarthen, earl of Danby, vifcount Latimer, and viscount Dunblaine, in Scotland, baron Osborne of Kiveton, a baronet, K. G. lord lieute nant and cuftus rotulorum of the eaft-riding of the county of York,

governor of the Scilly Islands, one of the lords of his majefty's most honourable privy-council, governor of the Levant company; high fteward of Hull, &c. and filled the office of principal fecretary of state for the foreign department, from December 1783 to April 1791. His grace was born Jan. 29, 1751, and 'married, 1773, lady Amelia D'Arcy, only furviving child of the late earl of Holdernefle, by whom he had iffue George William - Frederick, (who fucceeds him), born July 15, 1775, and, on the death of his mother, in 1784, fucceeded to the barrony of Conyers; Mary-Henrietta, born Sept. 7, 1776; and Francis Godolphin, born Oct. 11, 1777; and who, in the early years of conjugal intercourfe, difplayed the utmoft degree of domeftic virtue, and held forth the fairest profpect of connubial happinefs: but thefe flattering profpects of nuptial felicity were all blighted, for this accomplished and amiable woman liftened to the voice of seduction, and was the mark of public obloquy. This marriage was diffolved in 1779, when her grace married Mr. Byron, and died in 1784. The fecond wife of the late duke, was Mifs Catharine Anguif, daughter of the late Thomas A. efq. a master in chancery, and one of the commiffioners of public accompts, to whom he was married Oct. 14, 1788, and by whom he had one fon, Sidney Godolphin, born Dec. 16, 1789, and a daughter, Catharine-AnneSarah. The now dowager dutchefs chiefly attracted the attention of his grace by her peculiar taste and skilt in mufic, The prefent duke married, Auguft 7, 1797, Charlotte, daughter of the marquis Townfhend.
