4. My soul rejoices to pursue
The steps of him I love,
Till glory breaks upon my view
In brighter worlds above.

[Still standing.]

Minister. Let us now attend to the Preaching and Hearing of God's Holy Word, commencing by Prayer.

[All kneel.]

Minister.—Our Father who art in heaven, to whom can thy children come for bread, but to thee: to thee therefore do we come. Thou hast assured us, that as a father pitieth his children, so dost thou pity thy sons and daughters in Christ Jesus: and thou hast assured us, that thou art much more ready to give us nourishment and comfort, than is any earthly parent to bestow temporal good on his children. Our Father and our God, behold us then in thy pity and thy love at this time, and let thy blessed promises be graciously and abundantly verified to us. Give us heavenly meat and drink, we beseech thee. May we relish the food thou givest us, and may we be nourished and strengthened thereby unto eternal life.

Congregation.-Our Father, give us bread, we beseech thee, and greatly nourish us at this time.

Minister. Thou Shepherd of thy sheep, who gavest thy life for us: thou who hast commanded thy under shepherds to feed thy sheep and nourish thy lambs, be with thy poor shepherd at this time, and give him food to set before this multitude. O Lord Jesus, thou didst feed thousands with a few loaves and fishes. See here, O Lord, thy servant with his small supply which he is about to lay out before this large company and whilst he breaks it and sends it forth, O give an increase and an extension to it, that every individual of this multitude may eat and be filled, and may praise the Lord who giveth.

Congregation.-O Lord, may we all eat and be satisfied through thy divine blessing upon the food now to be broken unto us.

Minister.-Give us understanding and grace, O our God, truly to profit by the continued instructions we receive in this place, and by all the means and opportunities of acquiring knowledge which thou hast given us. O let not our minds and our hearts be barren, but may we make much advancement in the ways of thy kingdom, and pass on from the use of milk to the use of stronger food; and may all the strong food thou wilt give us make us stronger and stronger, to thy praise and honour and glory in us through Jesus Christ our Lord: amen.

and amen.

[The Congregation sit.]

[The Sermon is now delivered; and is succeeded by the following Prayer, which concludes the Service.]

Minister. Let us Pray.

[All kneel.]

Minister.-Most Merciful Father, thou who hast brought us together at this time, and hast given us the present opportunity of edification through the preaching of thy word by the earthen vessel of thy appointment, graciously, O Lord for thy own name's sake vouchsafe us much gospel grace and strength through thy words now spoken. O let our hearts now receive deep and abiding impressions in the things that belong to our eternal peace and glory: let not the truth slip out of our minds, but let us hold it fast to our everlasting welfare.

Congregation O Lord our God, let us hold fast the truths now delivered to us for our everlasting welfare.

Minister. O thou merciful and gracious Lord

God Almighty, have mercy upon us, poor and miserable sinners as we all are before thee. O enter not into judgment with us, but blot out all our iniquities in the blood of Jesus Christ, in that blood which we know cleanseth from all sin: and give us, O Lamb of God thy peace here below, and may we find mercy of thee in the day of thy appearing.

Congregation.-O Lamb of God, have mercy upon us now, and in the day of thy appearing.

Minister. Our Father and our God, we now adore thee for all thy goodness to us this day. Forgive us all our sins in waiting on thee. Dismiss us now with thy Fatherly blessing: keep us all safely, and preserve us truly in thy fear until we return again to this thy house; and whenever we meet here, or wherever we are, do thou cause thy face to shine upon us.

Congregation. Our Father in heaven, bless us bless us till we return here, and bless us for

now,

evermore.

Minister.-Now unto him who is able to do exceed ing abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus, throughout all ages, world without end: amen.

Congregation.-Amen, and amen.

Minister. Let us sing to the praise and the glory of God:-" Show Pity &c." [pronouncing the two first lines of the following hymn :-or, referring to some other, and pronouncing the two first lines of it.]

1. Show pity Lord; O Lord forgive!
Let a repenting rebel live:

Are not thy mercies large and free?
May not a sinner trust in Thee?

2. My crimes are great, but not surpass
The power and glory of thy grace:
Great God, thy nature hath no bound,
So let thy pardoning love be found.

3. O wash my soul from every sin,
And make my guilty conscience clean;
Here on my heart the burden lies,
And past offences pain my eyes.

4. My lips with shame my sins confess,
Against thy law, against thy grace;
Lord, should thy judgment grow severe,
I am condemned, but Thou art clear.

breath,

5. Should sudden vengeance seize my
I must pronounce Thee just in death;
And if my soul were sent to hell,
Thy righteous law approves it well.
