4 Be Thou, O GOD, exalted high,
And as thy Glory fills the Sky;
So let it be on Earth difplay'd,
'Till Thou art here as there obey'd.

PSALM CVIII. Metre iii.

MAnd fix'd to ev'ry Point enjoin'd

Y Heart, bleft SAVIOUR, is refign'd,

By thy divine Decree;

I'll praife Thee with my Lips, the best
Of all my Members, for they're bleft
In magnifying Thee.

2 Awake, and be thy Strains renew'd,
Thou Glory of my Gratitude,
Awake, my Harp, and play,-
Awake, my Lute,-myfelf fhall rife,
As foon as these uplifted Eyes
Can catch a Glance of Day.

3 O LORD, with thankful Voice and Hand,
Among the Natives of the Land,
Thy Mercies I'll proclaim;

To Strangers I will fing thy Worth,
And make my Progrefs through the Earth,
To magnify thy Name.

4 Lo! to the Clouds thy Truth extends;
Thy Mercy Heav'n's vaft Height tranfcends,
From whence thy Glories flow :
Shine forth, O GOD, with cloudless Ray,
And wondrous Acts of Grace display
Throughout the World below.

5 The Juft, bleft Objects of thy Love,
Defend propitious from above,
And hear thy Suppliant's Voice:
Since Thou haft fworn in Holiness,
I'll plead thy Promise, trust thy Grace,
And evermore rejoice.

[blocks in formation]

NOD of my Mercy and my Praife,
Thy Glory is my Song;

Though Sinners fpeak against thy Grace
With a blafpheming Tongue.

2 When in the Form of mortal Man
Thy SON on Earth was found,
With cruel Slanders, false and vain,
They compafs'd Him around.

3

Their Mis'ries his Compaffion move,
Their Peace He ftill purfu'd;
They render Hatred for his Love,
And Evil for his Good.

4 Their Malice rag'd without a Cause;
Yet, with his dying Breath,

He pray'd for Murd'rers on his Crofs,
And blefs'd his Foes in Death.

5 LORD, fhall thy bright Example shine
In vain before my Eyes?
Give me a Soul akin to Thine,
To love mine Enemies.

6 The LORD fhall on my Side engage,
And in my SAVIOUR'S Name

I fhall defeat their Pride and Rage,
Who flander and condemn.

PSALM CX. Metre i.

ESUS, our LORD, afcend thy Throne,
And near the FATHER fit;

In Zion fhall thy Pow'r be known,
And make thy Foes fubmit.

2 What Wonder fhall thy Gospel do!
Thy Converts fhall furpafs

The num'rous Drops of Morning-Dew,
And own thy fov'reign Grace.

3 GOD hath pronounc'd a firm Decree,
Nor changes what He wore ;
"Eternal fhall thy Priesthood be,
"When Aaron is no more.

4" Melchifedec, that wondrous Priest,
"That King of high Degree,
"That holy Man who Abr' ham bleft,
"Was but a Type of Thee."

5 JESUS Our PRIEST for ever lives
To plead for us above;
JESUS our KING for ever gives
The Bleffings of his Love.

6 GOD fhall exalt his glorious Head,
And his high Throne maintain;

I

Shall ftrike the Pow'rs and Princes dead,
Who dare oppofe his Reign.

CX. Metre ii.

HUS the eternal FATHER spake To CHRIST the SON, "Afcend and fit "At my Right-Hand, till I fhall make "Thy Foes fubmiffive at thy:Feet.

2" From Zion fhall thy Word proceed; Thy Word, the Sceptre in thy Hand, "Shall make the Hearts of Rebels bleed, "And bow their Wills to thy Command.

3" That Day fhall fhew thy Pow'r is great,
"When Saints fhall flock with willing Minds,
"And Sinners crowd thy Temple-Gate,
"Where Holiness in Beauty fhines."

4 O bleffed Pow'r! O glorious Day!
What a large Vict'ry fhall enfue!
And Converts who thy Grace obey
Exceed the Drops of Morning-Dew.

PART II.

5 THUS the great LORD of Earth and Sea Spake to his SON, and thus He. fwore; "Eternal' fhall thy Priesthood be,

And change from Hand to Hand no more.

6" Aaron and all his Sons must die,
"But everlasting Life is Thine,
"To fave for ever thofe that fiv
"For Refuge from the' Wrath divine.

7 "By Me Melchifedec was made.
"On Eartha King and Prieft at once;
"And Thou my heav'nly PRIEST fhalt plead;
"And Thou, my KING, fhalt rule my Sons."
8 JESUS the Prieft afcends his Throne,
While Counfels of eternal Peace,
Between the FATHER and the SON,
Proceed with Honour and Succefs.

9 Through the whole Earth his Reign fhall
And crush the Pow'rs that dare rebel: [fpread,
Then fhall He judge the rifing Dead,
And fend the guilty World to Hell.

10 Though while He treads his glorious Way,
He drinks the Cup of Tears and Blood,
The Suff'rings of that dreadful Day-
Shall but advance Him near to God.
PSALM CX. Metre iii.

HE LORD unto my LORD, thus fpake,
Till I
Till I thy Foes thy Foot-Stool make,
Sit Thou in State at my Right-Hand;
Supreme in Sion Thou fhalt be,
And all thy proud Oppofers fee
Subjected to thy juft Command.

2 Thee, in thy Pow'r's triumphant Day, The willing Nations fhall obey,

And when thy rifing Beams they view, Shall all (redeem'd from Error's Night) Appear as numberlefs and bright

As Crystal Drops of Morning-Dew.

3 The LORD hath fworn, nor fworn in vain, That, like Melchifedec's, thy Reign

And Priesthood fhall no Period know; No proud Competitor fhall fit

At thy Right-Hand-but Pow'rs fubmit, And Thrones before thy Foot-Stool bow. PSALM CXI. Metre i.
