4 O blefs our GOD, and never ceafe ;
Ye Saints, fulfil his Praife;

He keeps our Life, maintains our Peace,
And guides our doubtful Ways.

5 LORD, Thou haft prov'd our fuff'ring Souls, To make our Graces fhine;

So Silver bears the burning Coals,
The Metal to refine.

6 Through wat❜ry Deeps and fiery Ways
We march at thy Command,
Led to poffefs the promis'd Place
By thine unerring Hand.

PART II.

NOW fhall my folemn Vows be paid
To that Almighty Pow'R,

Who heard the long Requests I made,
In my diftrefsful Hour.

8 My Lips and cheerful Heart prepare,
To make his Mercies known;
Come ye that fear my GOD, and hear
The Wonders He hath done.

9 When on my Head huge Sorrows fell,
I fought his heav'nly Aid;
He fav'd my finking. Soul from Hell,
And Death's eternal fhade.

10 If Sin lay cover'd in my Heart

While Pray'r employ'd my Tongue,
The LORD had fhewn me no Regard,
Nor his raifes fung..

II But GOD (his Name be ever bleft)
Hath fet my Spirit free,

Nor turn'd from Him my poor Request,
Nor turn'd his Heart from me.

PSALM LXVII. Metre i.

O blefs thy chofen Race,

Tin Mercy, LORD, incline;

And cause the Brightness of thy Face
On all thy Saints to shine.

That fo thy wondrous Ways

May through the World be known; While diftant Lands their Tribute pay, And thy Salvation own.

3 Let diff'ring Nations join
To celebrate thy Fame;

Let all the World, O LORD, combine
To praise thy glorious Name.

O let them fhout and fing,
Diffolv'd in holy Mirth;

For Thou, the Righteous JUDGE and KING,

Shalt govern all the Earth.

5

Let diff'ring Nations join

To celebrate thy Fame;

6

Let all the World, O LORD, combine
To praise thy glorious Name.

Then shall the teeming Ground
A large Increase disclose;

And we with Plenty fhall be crown'd,
Which God, our GoD, beftows.

HINE, mighty God, on Britain shine With Beams of heav'nly Grace: Reveal thy Pow'r through all our Coasts, And fhew thy fmiling Face.

2 When fhall thy Name, from Shore to Shore, Sound all the Earth abroad;

And diftant Nations know and love
Their SAVIOUR and their GOD?

3 Sing to the LORD, ye diftant Lands,
Sing loud with folemn Voice;
While all our Tongues exalt his Praise,
And all our Hearts rejoice,,.

4 He, the great LORD, the fov'reign JUDGE, Who fits enthron'd above,

Wifely commands the Worlds He made,
In Justice and in Love.

5 Earth fhall obey her MAKER'S Will,
And yield a full Increase ;

Our God will crown his chofen Ifle
With Fruitfulness and Peace.

6 GOD the REDEEMER fcatters round
His choiceft Favours here;

While the Creation's utmost Bound
Shall fee, adore, and fear.

PSALM

MAY

[blocks in formation]

AY GOD his fav'ring Ear incline, And bid his Face on Ifrael fhine; That All thy Counfels, LORD, may know Where Earth extends, or Oceans now.

2 To Thee of Life th' eternal Spring, Invifible, All-potent KING,

One Chorus let all Nations raise,
One Shout of univerfal Praise.

Exult each Tribe, exult each Land;
Heav'n's mighty LORD, with equal Hand,
The Balance holds, and Earth's Domain
Shall own to latest Age his Reign.

4 Warm'd by his genial Suns, the Field
With full Íncrease its Fruits fhall yield;
And GoD, thy God, O Sion, shed
His choiceft Bleffings on thy Head.

5 Great GOD, on us thy Bleffings show'r,
Let Man's whole Race revere thy Pow'r,
And, thankful, to their wond'ring Eyes
Behold thy wish'd Salvation rise.

PSALM LXVIII.

ET GOD arife in all his Might,
And put the Troops of Hell to Flight,
As Smoke that fought to cloud the Skies
Before the rifing Tempest flies.

2 He comes array'd in burning Flames;
Juftice and Vengeance are his Names :
Behold his fainting Foes expire,
Like melting Wax before the Fire.

3 He rides, and thunders through the Sky;
His Name JEHOVAH founds on high:
Sing to his Name, ye Sons of Grace ;
Ye Saints rejoice before his Face.

4 The Widow and the Fatherless
Fly to his Aid in sharp Diftrefs :
In Him the Poor and Helpless find
A JUDGE that's juft, a FATHER kind.
5 He breaks the Captive's heavy Chain,
And Pris'ners fee the Light again;
But Rebels that difpute his Will,
Shall dwell in Chains and Darknefs ftill.

6 KINGDOMS and Thrones to God belong; Crown Him, ye Nations, in your Song:

His wondrous Names and Pow'rs rehearse;
His Honours fhall enrich
Verfe.

7 He fhakes the Heav'ns with loud Alarms; How terrible is GOD in Arins!

In Irael are his Mercies known,
Sion is his peculiar Throne.

8 Proclaim Him King, pronounce Him bleft,
He's your DEFENCE, your Joy, your REST:
When Terrors rife and Nations faint,
GOD is the Strength of ev'ry Saint.

PART III.

9 LORD, when Thou didft afcend on high,
Ten thousand Angels fill'd the Sky:
Thofe heav'nly Guards around Thee wait,
Like Chariots that attend thy State.
